Does anyone know about the new rules for entering Spain?

Having to produce one of the three following documents.

Invitation or proof of address of address if you are staying with friends or family
Booking confirmation for hotel/Airbnb booking etc.
Proof of address if visiting your own property

Does this affect people in campervans/motorhomes?

It’s the same for all the Shengen area. Since Brexit.

I've been to France, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Andora since Brexit and didn't require anything other than a passport.

EES doesn't come in until October, then we will have the ETIAS malarkey.

EES: is an automated system for registering travellers from non-EU countries each time they cross an EU border

ETIAS: is a new requirement for visa-exempt travellers to enter most European countries from mid-2025

Recently border control asked to see our return ferry ticket when entering the Netherlands via Amsterdam.
Having traveled to Spain many times in recent years I’ve never been asked for anything other than passport although on a recent trip i carried an invitation from friends living there.
There are robustly enforced controls when entering Spain from Gibraltar.

This has always been the case but never really enforced. Since BREXIT we have the same rights in the EU as the Chinese, Australians, Canadians, etc.I have had to produce those documents when visiting other countries outside of the EU, when asked.

Spain are desparate for our tourism. On the whole we are viewed very positively. They are even trying to pass a law enabling home owners to stay longer in Spain.

I would imagine that seeing we are in a campervan or motorhome that a few campsite bookings and a return ferry ticket would suffice.

Last two times I have been there, I have not booked any sites or had a return ferry/tunnel ticket as we arrived by ferry and didn't know exactly when we would return, by tunnel.

Its easier to get into Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore etc. For the moment anyway.

It also depends on what the agenda of the day is? If my compatriots are kicking up a fuss over Gibraltar being Spanish, then you are going to have to fully comply moving in and out of Gibraltar. Probably at some of the airports too. If you visit Spain a lot (and travel around) then getting a Spanish NIE and opening a Spanish bank account massively helps. Probably not worth it for many visitors. However, using my Spanish EURO debit card has been useful in France and Italy too.

Neither have we.
But if you look at gov.uk website at entry requirements it does state these ‘extras’ could be asked for. I think they can ask you to prove you have funds to last the length of your holiday - France says about €120 per day if you’re camping!

Etias is now due to be implemented in mid 2025. 7 euros for 3 years, free for over 70s. It is linked electronically to your biometric passport. In theory it will speed up the entry process - we'll see! It will make me feel even more of a foreigner as I have thought of myself as European for at least 40 years.
Donchaluv Brexit?

Last year we did a trip through France to Spain I recall we only showed our passport on arrival at St Malo otherwise it was straight over the F/S border

Though not in a Cali!

Sadly "we" are the architects of our own misfortune here. Thanks for the heads-up, I'll be more careful to check the criteria on future trips, cheers.

These rules are for entry into the Schengen Area of borderless travel. The UK was never a member of the Schengen Zone .

Britain was never a member of the Schengen Area of borderless travel but British citizens did have the right to freedom of movement within the EU when the country was a member. This ended when the country formally left the European Union (EU) at the end of 2020.

I just don’t understand it. We’ve put our faith in Etonians, Harrowvians, Oxbridge scholars and billionaire publishers and life, for the average Jo, has just got harder and more complicated.

It simply makes no sense.

I had no faith to start with!!
