The Emovis Tag for French Toll roads, and others for Italy, Spain & Portugal, are battery powered but the battery cannot be changed by the user.
Battery life is pretty long BUT is variable depending on usage. Normally 5 yrs or less.
You can check if your Tag is likely to fail by checking your Emovis Account. To renew your Tag you order a new Tag for 20€ and return your old one and you are reimbursed 20€. But you are advised not to return the old one before ordering a new one or the account can be closed.
Also, don't forget to register the new Tag against your account.
I presume other tags are similar.

They now have new tags back in stock, had supply issues during the summer.

If you check your account it will tell you if Emovis think your battery is close to its life.

All correct advice but note if using tag In Portugal you must register the vehicle gestration number to validate
Not so in Spain, you can use the tag on any vehicle

Never saw the point of these. I’ve been over to Europe 3 times this year and don’t have much issue putting the card in the booth.
Paying the highway Gestapo more seems a bit of a sin…

Does it cost anymore? I thought it just sends you (sorry, her that controls finances) a bill online at the end of the month?

It’s much quicker if things are busy at the toll gates.

Don’t you have to pay an annual subscription…?

The subscription charge on ours is five euros for any month that the tag is used.

For us a small price to pay to avoid the arguments at the tolls- waking up the Mrs, lively discussion as to whether I’m close enough to the ticket machine or not.

Any discussions with toll operators over which class you should have been charged can be done by email when you get the bill, rather than in a foreign language via an intercom with a queue of locals hooting behind you.

Being able to Use the 30kmh no stopping lane has saved us a considerable amount of time particularly in August in France when some of the queues have been long.

I have the Bip and Go.
Cost about 24€ to get it delivered, not really an annual charge but there
is a monthly charge of 2,50€ for the months that you use it.

It is great though, especially when you see a load of cars but the T lane is empty.

We’ve got the same one. Brilliant tbh so much easier. And you only get billed for a maximum of two months (10€) per year!

It was the only place I could overtake in my old T4. Whilst smiling smugly at the Porsche driver who had sailed past me earlier doing 100mph +.

A lot of the French don’t seem to have the tags, so you just sail thru the 30mph barriers with the tag.

Glad this thread was started because we’re off to France soon and will use some toll roads. Checked my tag online today and it said ‘expires soon’ which surprised me TBH - Emovis obviously go on the age of a tag, not its usage. Not used ours for 2-3 years due to Covid etc.
Anyway, new one ordered and already despatched. :)

Love that game - let’s try 35kmh see if that works. Had one last year at 25kmh that didn’t read the tag and had to do an emergency stop!

Currently sitting by a pool in Marrakesh at the moment & missing the van but it’s what the Mrs wanted.

Right, so we know who wears the Callards in your house then!

(That’s Callard and Bowser - Trouser).

Trying to make a point! Have 2 kids agreeing our usual camp/ drive & villa in Spain is better.!

I've tried driving through at 40kmh but it doesn't like it and makes you
almost come to a stop.
29kmh all the way for me now:Stig

I’ve not used my tag for any vehicle other than cars i’ve owned in the past, never in a California. So a few questions:-

1. Since the Cali is under 2m do you go through the non-height restricted lane or do you go through the height restricted.
2. Do you get charged as car (Class 1) or a van (Class 2)?
3. If you’ve been charged for Class 2 have you successfully received a toll adjustment after requesting one?

We were in Spain at the end of last year and we found there was no rolls and the toll booths were all closed.
