I have checked threads on rust appearing on the bottom of the door where the seal is lifting, but before I go elsewhere to get it rectified i thought i would check here if my VW all in covers repair. Anyone know?

Depends on the exact warranty when you got your T6. This is the current and fairly standard warranty.

VW Warranty, even if extended, covers rust only for 3 years. You need a hole (perforation) to be covered by 12 year section of warranty.

Only answer is to go to local Dealer and get it inspected, costed etc.
It will be down to the Dealer for what answer you get.

Not an uncommon problem according to Transporter Forums but then they are in commercial use mainly.

Is it rust of the door metal or rust from the steel within the rubber seal. A photo would be useful.

Rust issues are especially tricky from an OEM perspective. When I worked in factory warranty we insisted that every rust/paint claim had to be signed off by regional HQ and comprehensive photos were included. Partly because of cost, partly because many of them were clearly winging it.

It’s a 2017 T6. I took out the 2 year All in Plan last summer

Not that anyone is at all interested but my fridge freezer has just died and my son’s Velvetiser (indulgently expensive hot chocolate maker) stopped working. We are going on holiday Friday so if a anything else goes wrong it will just have to go to the back of the queue for when we get home!

That looks like the seal only. It looks like the rest of the rubber seal is above and still in the door frame. Hard to be sure but it looks like the rubber has split apart to reveal the metal (and rusting) innards.

By the way; I’d argue premature failure of the seal with the dealer but it’s probably not a mega expensive item anyway

Same as my seal on my 2014 Cali, it's seal only rust, I replaced it myself last month with an OEM part, bit of a tricky job. Sliding door has started going the same way I have the seal but think I'll get VW to do it as it looks even harder due to all the interior trim that has to be moved.

It happened on my 2017 T6, on the drivers door side seal. The seal gets trodden on when entering/exiting the vehicle and the rubber splits exposing the metal, which then rusts as it's not galvanised. I had the 3 yr factory warranty extended to 5 years and it was covered and done under warranty. However, the all-in warranty specifically excludes seals.
Since the seal was replaced, it has been fine. However, I have had to get in and out of the van in a slightly unnatural way, so that I don't tread on the seal!
