Quick question. When you don’t have a trip planned do you leave all your equipment in the camper or do you store it in the house until you’re going on a trip? I’m thinking things like bedding, awning etc

Most of our bits and pieces are left in the van in their own storage bags including some clothes, so we’re ready to go with minimum fuss.

Not a cali - but I Ieave all camping stuff in the boot. If we decide to escape on a Fri afternoon it's just a case of stuffing a coolbox with food and packing some clothes (due to city centre parking, my van lives quite far from home). It's handy also to have a spare pair of running shoes, walking boots etc on board as these are always forgotten in the hurry to leave!

Packed and ready to go just needs fridge filling everything else stays in there.

Stays in the van, including all bedding, a full tank of water, a clean and ready porta potti and an empty waste water tank, and small long life milk Satchets and tea and coffee and some cookies. We also have some pot noodles, some pasta, rice and lentils as well in the van. Every trip can become an adventure .. below was us this Sunday, parked by.the side of a.road. wife had a nap, while I read a book, we both then had tea and biscuits before we returned home

That sounds just like the life I’m looking for and have the tea and biscuits packed along with some chocolate. I’ve retired earlier than my husband and I didn’t want to spend 6 years sitting around the house watching life pass me by until he retired. I haven’t put the top up on my days out yet as I struggle to pull it back down on my own.

Most of our stuff is kept in there, all bedding, tools, cooking pots/pans/crockery/cutlery etc. Plus tea/biscuits/sauces/some dried food/Marmite/Bovril...

Just need water, clothes and food and we are off.

Thanks, it will save me from trying to find storage in the house I don’t have. The lady I purchased it from said she never uses the tape water in the camper to drink from as she carried drinking water in a separate bottle and only used the tape water for washing up, is that normal?

Bedding: sheet stays on the upstairs mattress (we almost never sleep downstairs) and two cushions that double up as pillows also live in the van. Duvet and pillow cases live in the house.

We don't keep any food in the van as don't want to encourage rodents.

Usually keep Portapotti ready to go in van, and water tank full but have a separate water canister that we keep in the back as we prefer that for drinking so that gets refilled fresh for a trip.

Awning, pop-top cozy, toilet tent, etc etc: in the cellar and that's where it all stays nowadays.

Thrown into van pre-trip: duvet as above, clothes, wash bags, iPads, food and booze, outdoor gear, dog stuff, dog.

Normal, i'm not sure but i sterilise the tank each year and give it a
good flush though. We then only use the water for cooking and brewing up
and cleaning teeth etc.. drinking water is usually bottles of volvic.

We use the water in the tank for washing veg, cleaning teeth, tea if necessary and we carry some water from home.
