Just for info’

Spoke with Mike Harbinson at Eurovans yesterday. He advised that there is a generous deal on the Grand California for orders placed in October direct with them (not via DTD).

£4500 deposit contribution
£2500 of extras
9% discount
Competitive finance rate.

Similar on DTD. I priced one up and got over 14k discount equivalent to over 16% off. Along with the 5 services, 3 free mot's and 5 year warranty and roadside assist it's a cracking price if the GC works for you. Not much more than a decent spec Cali.

I really fancy one of those myself, do you know if you can negotiate anything off their price, appreciate it'll be much less than a Cali?

A point for prospective 2024 buyers

I read that VW are going to sell vehicles direct to the Customer, like Mercedes do currently the article said.
This will mean that the price will be set by VW as the order is from them on a national basis with the Dealers not having any ability to discount.

The last company to fully adopt that model was Daewoo and where are they now??
Tesla work on that model but have a unique proposition so it works for them, but I'm pretty sure Mercedes isn't selling the volumes it once was. I hope VW don't go that way......

Wasn't just VW. Might be the forthcoming influx of Chinese EV's that are forecast making a change in trading.

Citroen was one of the first European brands to do this in the UK about 25 years ago. The idea was to sell to the public as the same price that dealers bought them for, which on average is 20% less than RRP (but as low as 10% for popular models).

It lasted about a year. Dealers hated it, they had no incentive to sell, nor create a customer rapport, only getting 50 quid per sale as “commission” and funnily enough customers hated it because they wanted to go in and “do a deal”. When they were unable to do one with the prices already at the bottom, they went elsewhere, even if more expensive.

Since Mercedes started this they have lost market share and sales. I don’t see it lasting.
