17th August 2022, my birthday, no presents please.

There was a price increase imposed overnight on VW Commercial Vehicles. Luckily this excluded Californias and the ID Buzz. No notice of this increase was given. Speaking to a Sales Manager this morning he thought that the current high list prices on both the Cali and Buzz didn't justify increasing them. He did also think it was naughty imposing an increase with no notice.
Perhaps anyone considering ordering a California, should be wary that stilth increases might be imposed at any time on California's, without prior notice!

Happy Birthday!

Costs are likely to to increase as prices for raw materials, parts etc have gone up + shipping market is has been all time high so freight rates will also be high for a few years to come. (nothing to do with Covid, just a natural cycle) These additional costs will passed onto end user.

As much as I hate defending VW, these costs are outside of their control; They used to be in a position where they could dictate to suppliers etc , but times have changed.

I think everyone realises now you cant rely on ANY dealer at the moment. It’s been a sellers market for a couple of years now and now even more uncertainty because of China/Taiwan situation.
It seems if you want a new vehicle you just have to pay what they are asking.

His view,, the sales manager was, that he could have been putting a deal together with a customer last night, then this morning that deal, with no notice is out the window.

Happy Birthday ,

I would agree with the above comments regarding the supply chain,

The boot will be on the other foot for some time, third party suppliers use these rare occasions to level the playing field and exert their pressure on the manufacturer. (Particularly if that relationship has been oppressive)

The German Power Generation situation is causing production costs to escalate pretty much out of control.

In the previous "Green Party" wisdom they decided that Nuclear Power was to be rapidly replaced by Gas Powered Plants, supplied gas from Russia.

Happy Birthday :bananadance2
There were increases on some California Optons.
The Palmerston Alloys (which I’ve ordered.
Gone up from £1332 to £17xx)
And something else, which I haven’t ordered.
Just from last Tuesday to this Tuesday.

Oh yeah!

Teresina’s on a Beach have gone from about a grand to £1776!

Sorry for being a little sceptical about this kind of activity but I was looking at new Beach two weeks ago (unfortunately not the right spec for us) and the dealer said two things:
1. The sales manager has said not a penny discount.
2. There was a price increase notice overnight for any Cali purchased from 1st September (but if I completed on the Cali before that date the increase would not be applied). Since been disproved by the earlier post.

Now call me sceptical but in the next breath I am being offered a hefty discount on a factory order from another dealer.

My point here being the dealer evidentially has a healthy margin to play with and a choice in all this.
Add this together with the point made earlier that the price increase does not apply to Cali’s this time around and I think we should all keep our wits about us when negotiating on a £65k - £85k purchase.

It seems 9% is still available from DtD, Autoebid and a few dealers direct if pushed.

Taking a quick look at the latest brochure, it looks like only Wheel options were increased in price.

Woodstocks are now a £500 option on the Beach Camper with 18” wheel options (Teresina’s and Palmerstons) increasing by around £800.

Rumors in the german forum mention price increases for VW commercial vehicles from 1.5% to 10%. Californias should be 6.8% on base vehicle , 6% on equipment/accessories. Start 30 Sept 2022.
Followed in January by 1.5% to 3%.
I love my T6, first car I ever owed generating paper (unrealised) profits!

I guess VW are trying to kill off the T6.1 orders so they can concentrate on making the milk floats.
