Hi. While I hail from Australia, I have lived in Switzerland for the last few years. I have camped for much of my life, but this is my first campervan. After much deliberation and shopping, I settled on a 2017 T6 Ocean. I am already planning a stereo upgrade (no Navi? Really??) and some nicer 17" wheels for next birthday. First trip out is this weekend in Bern. Looking forward to pouring over this forum as soon as I can let go of the steering wheel.

Greetings and welcome from a Canadian living in the lake Biel region.

Hey Doug, welcome, from Zurich!

Re the Sat Nav, my T6 comes with the sat nav (Discover Media Plus), and I find it to be useless. Not because the unit in itself is bad, but because of where it is, and the orientation of the screen, it's very hard to read while driving, it's very far out of my field of view, and the angle catches all sorts of reflections making the screen even harder to read. And I discovered all this while driving back from the dealer. An after market unit will suffer from the same problems.

I'm just using my old solution of Waze on my phone, attached to a bracket on a suction cup. Right next to my field of view, in the lower corner next to the A pillar so doesn't obstruct my view.

All my head unit is good for is providing a BT connection to play Spotify, and an amp to drive the speakers. Looks pretty though

I haven't seen anyone wave back at me on my Cali yet. Happens almost always on my bike though (MT-07). Except for Harley riders. They are obviously too cool to wave at anyone

That’s not true for all Harley riders. I wave to every fellow Töffler…

I got a wave on my way back from the dealer 8 years ago! I was so happy, I was ‘in the club’!
I now challenge others to wave back but gave that up this trip....too many VWs in Portugal and was not getting any waves.....first time abroad so maybe it’s just a quaint British foible?
I was feeling a bit down one day and got the biggest wave from a UK van....that was SOOO great! It made my day
