We are considering joining the above but just for UK sites as we aren’t planning any trips to Europe this year. We are concerned that the low price might equate to basic facilities. Any thoughts please …

No we didn’t know that … but thanks … that’s good to know.

When we were members of those type of clubs we always found the Caravan and Camping Club much nicer and more friendly, also the mini sites are more accommodating of extra tents etc (obvs)

As @andyinluton pointed out, membership fee is around £1 a week, membership apparently saves you £12 in pitch fees. At this moment their is an awful lot of complaining going on from members regarding very big price hikes to CAMC fees this year.

I will not comment on whether those price hikes are justified but .... I'm staying on what used to be a premium site, Bristol, this week. Midweek, just for me I am paying £38 per night, if there were two of us, that would be over £50 per night.

Regarding your other query, facilities on CAMC sites are generally excellent.

We belong to both and use which ever is where we want to go but Caravan and Camping Club have a minimum of 2 nights in the summer.

Absolutely agree. Caravan and Camping Club calls itself The Friendly Club for a good reason!

There’s a danger of confusion here!
The 2 clubs are…
Caravan and Motorhome Club
&
Camping and Caravan Club (the friendly club).

Apart from the 2 night rule the other downside of CCC is that they allocate pitches unlike CMC who allow you to choose.

We are in both but probably mostly use CMC (despite the recent price hikes and trauma of their new booking system/rule changes).

Caravan and Motorhome Club - You’ll be stuck on sites full of ‘Great Whites’.
I feel I have more in common with campers so prefer the Camping and Caravanning Club :)
At least they enforce site rules and people obey them, unlike the “ Friendly Club “.
The last C&MH site I stayed on had more tents , Campervans than Great Whites.

Ditched mine as camping in the forest sites aren’t linked to camping and caravan club anymore, they do get you 10% off at gooutdoors but that has gone down hill so no big loss

We were at Matley Wood last week, booked through Pitch Up …. Prices seem to have gone up and despite being Easter holiday Matley and Denny Wood we’re not busy.

I bet a few of the locals (seasonals&workers) thought I had changed my van again and you were me in that joker of yours!
I haven’t looked at prices, hoping it’s not silly as I’ll be down at some point.

This is my go to site.
You can filter out member's only sites, and still have loads of choice including Independents, C&CC Certified sites (open to all) and Pub Stops.
You can sign up for free online, there is a charge for the app.

We members of both “clubs”. We have made the money back already on fare reduction for the Chunnel. In the main we like the sites and stricter rules. Having spent last night in Sango Sands, which is an amazing location and half the toilets were blocked, no one cleaned the showers after them and there was more dog noise than Battersea, we enjoy the order and quality.

Before we get "you can get a travel lodge cheaper" arguments.

Probably but where? Certainly not where I want to be in Bristol as I am spending three days at the Brunel institute reading the great man's papers for particular periods whilst parked 300 yards away.

I can do what I want in my camper, it's my own space, why would I want to be in a soulless hotel room listening to next doors television?

Why would I want to sleep in someone else's bed under someone else's bedding"

Yes, I know lots of you want to crush your chest hairs by beating your breasts about "only non-facility, no rules for me" but I love rules if it keeps next door quiet, the facilities clean and gives me a predictable product.

I know that I am relatively safe.

Therefore £38 is a good deal for me, a lovely deal. Anywhere allowing me to stop in my camper rather than an hotel is a good deal and the sheer predictability of the product makes a club site a no-brainer for me.

Last time someone tried the hotels are cheaper twaddle I explained why they were not anywhere in the UK for budget or mid with examples. Funnily enough they never replied…

We belong to C&CC, but have stayed at both C&CC and C&MC sites. Both are good and have always found the facilities for both good and clean.
C&MC toilets and showers tend to be newer, but for us their sites are a bit too ordered, I.e neat rows of endless white boxes all populated by a similar demographic. C&CC sites are more varied and do seem to be friendlier.

They upped the price think it was £52 for year, very easy to cancel. One quick call, got email to confirm and also deleted dd with my bank
Still debating what to do because despite losing the forest discount I do like the little sites, such as Church farm in Dorset that only take CCC

Used to belong to both, dumped CAMC after one too many stays on sites where the interpretation of 'friendly' was really "the wardens don't give a stuff and do nothing". Particularly when kids are running across your pitch and landing a football on your precious vehicle, and no-one (either parents or wardens) are prepared to tell them 'no'.

Now use Caravan Club sites and their CLs (small 5 unit sites) and find the standards much higher. Agree hugely with GrannyJen that the 'rules' mean other visitors usually keep the noise down and I am not disturbed.

My only complaint about CAMC is that I like my shower REALLY hot and most sites have the water temperature limited so that some twit cannot complain they scalded their hands and try to sue.

IDIOT CHILD.

I meant to write "dumped Camping and Caravan Club" but cannot see a way to edit my post. Sorry

I bet the “Caravan Club” thought that they’d stop confusion when they added “Motorhome” and became C&MC!
