I was interested to learn, from the Cali web video posting chap, that as well as the 3kw rear cabin heater there was a 5kw engine heater. Not sure how accurate this is.

Well, my 2020 T6.1 150 ps seems to be taking a long time to warm up. Now that it is 5deg it is about 7 miles and 15 minutes before the water temperature gauge starts rising. Can't remember if it used to be quicker.

If the extra engine heater fails would I see a message? How long does yours take to warm?

I noticed mine running yesterday when it was idling on the drive - brief whoosh of smoke from underneath as it started up and I could hear it. Not had it kick in above 5 degrees or so though and not sure where the temp sensor for that is either (if it’s in the engine somewhere then that’s going to be less susceptible to cooling overnight)

Are you sure you have the second heater? It’s an option. You would have two stickers on the door showing both types of heater. No manual ability to control the water heater and it only comes on when the van is below 5 degrees C.

Do the current engines still use the three glow plugs in the coolant circuit for cold starts?

Just found the two stickers on the door confirming the cabin and engine heaters - thank you for that.

..And the news that it does not come on above 5degC. That explains what is going on.
