Hello,

we are enjoying our California 6.1 from 2022.
but I wonder why it sometimes makes some sound.
like when you unlock the car but also when it is parked and switched of.
I hear a small buzzing sound and it looks like some adjustments setting like servo setting?
anybody recognize this too?

Get the same sound on our 2020 Ocean, not sure what it is!

Yes also get this on our 2022 6.1. There was a previous thread on this which suggested it was nothing to worry about.

Is it coming from under the bonnet? I think I have this too a sort of buzzing/ringing sound?

Do you have LED headlights? I hear this is something to do with the drivers/ballasts.

I think it's something to do with the fuel pump priming if the car thinks you might be getting ready to head off. But, as above, it's nothing to worry about as they all seem to do it. Mine's a Coast with non-LED headlights.

I don’t think mines the fuel pump it’s not a mechanical sound

Yep I also hear a sound, I'd describe it as a quiet but high pitched whine, a bit like old CRT TV's used to make. Stops after a minute or so, think it starts again if you open a door / tailgate but can't verify this as not with van atm. Sounds like it comes from under the van somewhere which fits with people saying it's the fuel pump priming.

My dealer in Amersfoort (campercentrum nederland) told me it is because the 6.1 will measure all kind of functions. This take quit a time (1 hour?) and will be activated every time you open the door, make contact or start the engine. It is normal and nothing to worrie about.

It’s a shame though,slightly annoying

It happens with many modern vehicles. I get the same type of sounds when opening doors on my Land Rover. (Not sure it's a good idea for battery life though !)

No different to many computers. People would soon complain if it took 5 minutes from switching on Ignition before you could start the engine and drive.

No different to the Audi S4 I owned, just a little louder in the Cali. Diesel systems have from the old days where you had to quite a long time for the glow plug to heat up before the engine will turn over.

This isn't all 6.1's though to be clear.

I've been lucky enough to own both a MY20 Coast and MY22 Ocean. There were no such noises from the Coast.

Depends where you start up. Outside I never notice it. In the confined space of the garage its more obvious. I do think some are louder than others though.

Video of the offending sound, taken with bonnet up while unlocking

My van has a big buzzer sound, it’s really irritating because it happens every 4-5 minutes when the van is fully charged but still connected to the mains, both camping socket or from a ctek , it will keep me awake so I can’t charge if I sleep in the van
It also comes from under the bonnet ‍♂️
I don’t know how to upload the video
