Often discussed on this forum. Widely held views are (a) never with an awning fitted; and (b) would never submit my nice shiny paintwork to that, I wash it myself with goose down mitts and unicorn tears (double bucket method).

But some people have used a car wash quite successfully with their van.

I'm a little concerned about the unicorn tears THB.. just how are these obtained (this doesn't sound very PC to me)?

Also, re. the goose down mits, down and water don't really go together as far as I can see, I tried it out with the contents of an old pillow just now and it didn't go well, what's the knack?

Best regards

Wouldn’t dare, everything on a Cali seems to cost a grand, and there’s no knowing what horrendous damage one of those mechanical brushes could do!

Yep, I agree, not had it long and have washed it once so far. You see so many campers with green roofs, I prefer ours to be finessed by hand

My wife took our Tiguan to a 'hand' wash facility with jet wash lance, now the LED lights have condensation in them. As I sweat on the potential cost implications of new headlamps, I suggest hand wash only:oops:

Its normal. The housings are not sealed. I sometimes see condensation after driving in the rain and then it disappears.

My passat was at a local 'hand' carwash once, they cleaned inside, outside, looked good, then the next day I noticed a 'lovely' deep arc in the bonnet paintwork.. probably consist with a piece of grit on a sponge..!

There's a hand carwash near us where you'll see an amount of high end cars being washed there.. this is also where I've seen someone clean the sills and then smear all the grit over the bodyside! And drop the sponge and then pick it up and carry on..!

Anyone ever had foggy headlamps..? This is more than likely connected with them spraying brake dust removal acid all over the cars too!

No, likewise, these places aren't for me!

Here is my condensation during a recent trip to France. Concerned me enough to take a photo. But it disappeared during the day in the sun.

Not in a million years!!!

I use a local hand wash place. They do a really good job - I've even had someone think my 16 year old van was almost new!

Tell it a very sad story, something along the lines of Bambi's mum, then sit back with a bucket.
