CamperVanBits Shoe box

Sorry to bother you all but a bit of advice if you could.

I've just squandered on one of these shoe boxes from CamperVanVBits and I'm struggling to work out how to secure it (into a T6.1 Ocean). Where do you attach the fixing strap they provide to? I was expecting to find some sort of lashing point behind the plastic cover but there doesn't seem to be one? Or is there some other cunning method?

The wrap goes through the air vent and loops back to secure it or you can use the tie down D loop shown in your photo

Brilliant - I'll have a fiddle with the vent then will need some smaller fingers!! There isn't a tie down loop - in my pic that's just a 'hole' left when I popped off the plastic cover - thought there might be a fixing behind it!?

Just need to try and get it all snug so I can still move the bench seat forward & back passed it!

Works going through the vent but I need to fiddle more to get the max tension without causing fouling. Probably need some velcro too but bot too bad.

Thanks for that, looks good - we’ve considered it a few times, but it’s good to see it with the bed down, as that’s when we’d use it most (site-shoes generally get chucked under the van in the day, but after finding a slug in one once, I bring them in overnight now haha)

We’ve kicked our (same) shoe rack off the step many times by accident. Early on the short edge resting on the floor cracked straight across due to a fall down onto the drive while packing up the van - the material is brittle!! We managed to fix it with super glue though. We’ve been using a piece of light bungy rope (purchased from B&Q), looped from the seat/bed handle to the bolt sticking out the seat base at the rear. It’s not perfect, but stops the thing falling out.

Not having a securing system on the base is I think a big oversight in the design. The lip on the Busboxx is a more secure solution with strips of adhesive velcro holding the entire unit firmly in place.

Think you might be

right - the bus boxx was my second choice ( trying to stay loyal and buy from club shop!). Being metal is probably more resistant to the odd tumble too!

I decided to go with a twist tie wire through the vent for absolutely minimum bulk, figured it just needs a light restrainer not a huge strap. I'm pleased to report that the bench seat moves passed it without any issue!

Thanks. I have customers not only from EU but also from Japan, Taiwan and Australia. I use it by myself. I wanted to have multifunctional setup like this table (you can use it inside Cali (Beach version) but also as additional part I designed the shoe box so I can connect it with table. (Very useful on campings and in shoe box I keep my fire extinguisher.

I just bought (but haven't yet fitted) a German version of this type of box in aluminium - it has wider feet & seems to stick to the grey plastics with 3M sticky pads ...

ive been eyeing this one up... perhaps give us a review when you fit it?

I liked the idea of a door too, but concerned it will weigh a ton!

I have the kitchen overhead cupboard from them and it is very well made (thick steel).

It's aluminium, it will be pretty light.

Presume this wouldn’t work with the wooden board in place on top of the rack?
Better to plug a multi socket usb into the cig lighter, if you have the wooden board, then you can access it with the board in place?
(I’m still pondering which setup to get)
