Is this the most expensive California on market?!

Yep, I think that takes the prize by some considerable margin. The other was a blue custom build showcased by ABAB. That was about 130K Euro

Would love to know what option were installed to justify a doubling of the price. 0km is suspicious. There is always at least delivery mileage. 26km on mine when I collected it.

Can you add the link? Wonder what they've done to the vehicle to justify the price.

What a dodgy dealer.
Its not even an Ocean. Its a Beach. All I can see is air suspension, a winch, a few bash plates, wheels, solar and some bolt on mods. Hardly 100K+ worths.

Just been to the site .... I think it is a typo ... someone managed to put a "1" in front of the price. He has 11 vans for sale, and only this one has a ridiculous price.

Correction, had a closer look at the dealers site ...

It's described as an Ocean which the picture isn't - the pictures are of another van used as an example ... what is for sale is a new Ocean with the following mods ... the stated conversion time in the ad is 6 weeks.

The offroad mods are:

Special off-road conversion package:

4C full air suspension including auto level function, off-road option +30 mm.

Loading indication to a maximum of 3,400 kg

Hardness-adjustable ADJUST-SENSITIV-AT XL shock absorbers, stabiliser for reducing roll.

Continuous closed underbody protection with sill protection + engine protection.

Wading package including raised engine air intake, transmission ventilation conversion kit for more wade depth, wade depth conversion kit for air auxiliary heater, wade depth conversion kit for additional water heater, front rescue eyelets.

Compressed air compressor twin piston permanently installed only for Ocean including connection in the rear of the kitchen, with 4 liter compressed air tank, 6m compressed air hose, compressed air tester and compressed air gun.

Cable winch, 12 V, 3,000 / 7,000 kg pulling force for front and rear use.

Mountain backpack including deflection stand, 1x premium rescue belt, 1x tree trunk protector, 2x ¾ inch shackles, 1 pair of gloves and 1x backpack.

Set of Delta Klassik B black aluminum rims on 255/55 R18 BF-Goodrich All Terrain 109/105 R M+S tires including black wheel screws and wheel locking screws as well as speedometer adjustment.

Complete modular rear carrier suitable for the tailgate in black powder-coated.

1 set of reinforced gas springs (V4A) up to max. 1,500 NM including holding set for tailgate.
Spare wheel holding module.

Spare wheel Delta Klassik B on 255/55 R18 BF-Goodrich AT tires.

Peli-Box holding module, Peli-Box (plastic box) spade holding module, multi-shovel with ash section, oiled, 2mm blade and 4mm hoe made of VA with 10 positions.

Rail system on the rear left side.

1 set of rescue boards (2 pieces) including holder for rail system.

Night vision camera infrared thermal.

LAZER Triple-R 750 Elite LED additional headlights for the front grill.

LED additional headlights for roof spoiler (ambient lighting).

Manual shift lock for the DSG transmission (installed in the interior).

Paint protection film, transparent for the entire vehicle (not including roof, including roof edge at the front)

PV system with 4 Ultraflex high-performance modules in black.

LifePO4 12V 150 Ah battery installed in the passenger seat console including battery holder and charging booster.

Sine wave inverter 2,000 W.

The base vehicle is a fully loaded Ocean, pictured is this one they did a while back.

I guess it is the most expensive Cali available.

Given they messed up the model too, that is highly likely. 88K for a new Beach with those mods is plausible.

Still not seeing 188K. And at that price its getting dangerously close to some really capable offroading Campervans like the Hymer Venture S.

The kit on this Cali is competing with what @Webbah_in_Switzerland has on his Joker (which I’m seriously impressed with)

Haha, I’d hate to add up what I’ve spent over 14 months but it’s nowhere close to that. Buying the joker used helped!

This one on the other hand from Hess is ridiculous.

I think if you were to take the Hymer Venture S off-roading those cabinets would splinter and crack fairly quickly.

This is what I’d have as a 2nd vehicle if I had a few million £.

And then there was this:

Well barring the air suspension, winch, compressor, lithium and spare wheel mount on the back my T6 has pretty much the same spec.

If someone offers me £15Ok I’ll take it and throw in the kids too.

I’m keeping the dog though.

I don’t think any Sprinter based camper would be as capable off-road as this Cali TBH. Still a ludicrous price though!

Ladies and gents, if you want to see insane prices come to the Republic of Ireland…. 2023 registered VW California Beach and looking for €73,000!!!!

I paid just under €75,000 for my Ocean in 2017 that price also included €12,500 in extras…. Cost of California Oceans are retailing at €98,000 without most of the extras that I have so to spec up like for like I’d be now paying around €110,000 , that’s an increase of €35,000.

I’ll never be able to afford to trade up to a new one ever again

Bognor Motors have a decent Kombi up for £72k, carpet on the walls and a bit of body kit; nice but nothing particularly special. No bed, fridge, pop top etc,.
That Beach starts to look reasonable value……
