Is privacy glass ok on a new Ocean or do I need acoustic package ?

Hi All

Is the standard privacy glass ok on a new Ocean , or do we need the extra acoustic package ?

Depends what you want from the privacy shading. We went for the standard option, and yes you can still see into the van if you get up close. To achieve privacy / concealment we pull the blinds down. You can get after market deeper tints though.

I dont think acoustic glass has anything to do with the level of tinting, but could be wrong

That was my impression as well, we darkened it ourselves in top of the original privacy glass and like it mych better now. The 'Edition' seemed to have darker windows somhow, though.

As soon as we find a good place to do the darker tint we’re going to do the same.

We bought our van from vw Liverpool. Luckily there were vans in with the vw tint, and with the limo tint.
We decided to go for the extra limo tint which vw Liverpool organised for us.
When I picked it up, they'd forgotten to apply the limo tint and applied it 2 days later.
Personally I would have the limo tint every time. So much more private.
A bus and beyond older videos show the difference.

hi.vw liverpool use a guy just round the corner.he does all theirs vw quoted me i think 550.the guy did it for 300 superb job.i got the deeper limo tint.but he will explain to you.i took the van went for lunch and it was done. just found his number.jason 07811 186726.

You might be getting confused by VW’s super confusing description of their options.

When they say that the acoustic option includes « privacy glass in rear », they don’t mean that you get extra privacy glass. They just mean that you get the privacy glass that you would have got for free anyway and that you get some extra double glazing somewhere.

So that option makes no difference to the privacy glass.

As above - you can’t spec darker glass on an Ocean from the factory.
I find the standard tint dark enough - a good compromise. If I want privacy I can pull the blinds in literally 1 minute, the rest of the time you have a lighter living space. Haven’t yet wished it was darker inside.
