MagCode power socket - eh?

I have a 2007 T5 California. Very little used by the previous owner, and little by me so far, and I'm still trying to get to grips with its myriad bells and whistles. One thing I can't figure out is the 12v "MagCode" power socket (see pic). I've never come across these before and a Google search has me none the wiser. Clearly, I need some sort of adapter socket to allow a USB, or other plug, to work. All that ebay offers seems to be flat surface-mounted plug/socket combinations that don't seem to relate in any way to the socket in the van. Any advice? Thanks!

I'm sorry I don't know... But the reseller has a good reputation and I'm sure their advice will be accurate.

That socket is not a magcode socket. The only magcode socket you have is in the boot. It’s on the right hand side under the bed extension board. That socket on the kitchen unit is for a ‘hella’ type plug. Adaptors are widely available or can easily be changed to a 12v socket that’s more common here in the UK or a modern USB socket. The full plastic frame around both socket and plug clips off. Underneath that you can remove the socket.

This is a magcode plug that you will need if you use the socket in the boot. Various types are available either with USB sockets or 12v sockets attached to the other end. Can also be used to trickle charge your leisure batteries with a magcode to CTEK adaptor.

Thanks, Yanathem. That explains why Googling/ebaying MagCode just came up with the plugs you've shown. The VW Owners Manual erroneously refers to it as a MagCode socket, illustrated with a picture of what I now know is a Hella socket!

Mines an 07 without inverter so I upgraded the 2 pin euro to a uk socket and the weird 12v to a normal 12v not to bad a job apart from having to make the 12v hole bigger to accommodate the new one, and that’s the original plate installed back on the new ones, they’re the c line brand.

That's a neat job! Good idea to change from Euro to UK socket too.
