My van has just had service and now started to throw up multiple errors on start up they do clear after a while but always the same acc, tyre pressure, front assist, stop/start and abs.
Any pointers before i contact breeze as stange started just after servicing nothing before!

Back a few years ago {in 2012} we had sudden multiple warning lights coming up on our T5 it was a result of Rodent damage.

Did you have brake pads and/or discs changed? All 3 Warnings could be explained by a Wheel Speed Sensor error and might have been disconnected, knocked out of place or damaged if they have been working on anything around the wheels.

A

They did replace 2 wheels but no work on disks brakes ect i checked pressures and 2 wheels were very over inflated? 49psi should be 45

Buy a Carista and download car scanner. My
money is on one or more ABS sensors, probably the rears.

Easy enough to change providing the screws aren’t seized in solid.

How many times has it happened? Did the sealer do a software update. If once and yes, then it's normal. The system will settle down and the errors will disappear on subsequent startups.

Was ok for a couple of weeks but getting more frequent now, no idea if software was updated

I which case you may have a short somewhere. What you are seeing are symptoms of an ECU system reboot.

Last time I had the same lights it was a rear wheel sensor at fault. first it was intermittent and it went away on its own before becoming solid. When I replaced I noticed a small hole in the plastic encapsulation which I think had allowed water ingress.

I hope it’s a simple straight forward fix for you. Good luck.

Booked in with breeze had a chat and thinks its a abs sensor, lets hope so! booked in in 3 weeks!

Had exactly the same warning lights last week. Didn’t go off, despite turning off/on etc. I tried to book in at our local VW garage, unable to see me until end of August. We have extended warranty which covered us for a further 2 weeks. VW won’t cover it as they can’t see me, so after some heated discussion the guy at VW told me to call the AA - So I did, didn’t thing it would be any good but they came to my house within the hour, we’d struggle to get an ambulance in that time where we live. Hooked up his tablet, identified the fault, cleared it down, we went for a few miles drive and it’s been fine ever since.

And the fault was............

And the fault was............

I had a long drive in horrific weather, country lanes and some deep water / pot hole craters. The AA guy identified a sensor alarm fault on the rear drivers wheel. It also was refusing to Store the correct tyre pressure. Once cleared down I was able to store the tyre pressures. We went for about 5 miles, he felt if there was a true fault it would have appeared as we drove away. It didn’t, been clear for past 10 days so I can’t tell if it will reappear or not. Feel confident TBH. Which is more than I can say about purchasing another VW based van, local garage was great until receipt. Still have great front / reception staff but they can’t retain technicians apparently, so getting anyone just to look at your van is 3 weeks, then another similar or longer wait to get it fixed. How could a tradesman relying on his van cope with this.

This is almost certainly an ABS brake sensor fault. 2 sensors on Ebay for about 10 quid. This will give you both sides front or back so whichever’s one has failed you have the correct one. I have on at the moment that’s very intermittent so just waiting for a decent dry day then get it done.

Thanks I’m thinking it may return - if / when I’ll get a local garage to fit as I’ve no idea :)

I have to agree with Ozzy Pete. As I mentioned earlier my faulty sensor had that little hole in the moulded plastic outer shell which must have allowed water to get to the coil within.

The stealers will want to take £95 + vat for the part then labour of £100’ish. Plus maybe a set fee for diag check.

The vw part has really poor quality outer moulding and I guess a few marginal ones get fitted.
As Ozzy Pete mentioned, there are some good quality ones to be found on Auction site.
I splashed out and bought a more expensive one with Brass ferrule at a cost of all of £10. The job itself took all of 5 mins after removing the wheel.
I would think a good Indy could do the job for you at a reasonable cost.

Everybody should have a Carista in the glove compartment. Only costs about £25 and will work off a number of apps.
Dont pay VW £100 + for a diagnosis when you can do it for free.
Yes it’s a 5 minute job. If you can change a wheel you can replace a wheel sensor.

Our local garage supplied & fitted ABS sensor for £95. Included clearing error code and test drive.

(Carista showed ABS sensor fault + a battery voltage error. New sensor cured both faults)

I found a genuine Bosch replacement wheel sensor on ebay for under £30.

I had the full set of warning lights as mentioned above, intermittent to start with and then full time. I got an obd II bluetooth diagnostic plug for about £15 and immediately diagnosed the front left speed sensor. Dead easy to swap out with.the wheel off as others have said.

The obd plug lives in the van now. Best £15 I ever spent.

What the hell is going on. I’ve now replaced 3 out of the 4 ABS wheel sensors on my van. It’s no big deal as it a simple job to do but you would think that they would last a bit longer.
The latest one I replaced this morning was a bit of a pig and needed a soaking in WD40 to get it to release And it was very dirty with a lot of rusty crud from the hub. I imagine that with a good clean they probably would come back to life, but for just £10 for 2 on eBay you may just as well just replace them anyway.

Glad you’re sorted,

when I replaced my single one a little while back I could not believe the sh*t quality. It’s only a Hall effect coil inside but with poor encapsulation moisture can get in and change the resistance of the winding thus an error message.
I replaced with a £10 one off eBay (see I can splash out if needed)
we have all had to deal with so much rain and water of late so I am guessing there has been some moisture ingress.

I do carry a decent vag obd diag box at all times. I think I will add a couple of sensors to my spares I carry. (I believe there are two different types for each side)
It is a job that can be done at the roadside if caught out miles from home.

well done Pete. Least you have some piece of mind now they have been swapped out.

Hi my left rear needs replacing, do you remove the wheel or can you get to it ok with the wheel on? Cheers

I know these are simple replacement items but do you go cheap or quality is there so much difference apart from price?
