Hello all,

I just wanted to make an introduction. My wife and I (Gem and Ben) ordered a new Ascot Grey Ocean about 6 weeks ago. We are still waiting for a build date and getting more and more impatient! I've only bought one new car before and I bought that one from their showroom so didn't have to wait! I'm holding myself back from buying any accessories but the wish list is growing!

I look forward to being a part of this fantastic forum..

Ben, Gem and Jacob (age 7).

Welcome to the Cali family Ben, Gem and especially little Jacob. I’m sure lots of great adventures ahead and life memories to make. If it’s your first experience of a Cali then make full use of this forum loads of experiences, advice and information and helpful members always up for doing what they can to help.

For many owners, me included, this forum becomes a second home whilst we wait or waited. So much knowledge can be found on these vehicles here, improving eventual ownership. VIP membership enhances this experience with a search facillity and resource section and, along with later 'in use' contributions, supports it all.

Welcome to the forum. The wait does drag on but it is an ideal time to do some research (and in my case buy lots of stuff - which everyone warns you against!!!). Best buys from my perspective were some of the cheapest….3d printed water fill spout, rechargeable electronic lighter (so much nicer to use than the loud button on the gas ring), foldable electric kettle if you plan to be on campsites and like regular cups of tea (it minimises the Cali shuffle). I hope you have fun in the next few weeks as the anticipation builds and you curate your own list of essentials!!!

Welcome Ben, Gem and Jacob. This forum is great for getting answers to all your questions. I’ve even bought some real bargains on here with regards to accessories. We got our van last week and we are thrilled with it. We waited 5 months but some on here have waited 3. Enjoy this time by planning your adventures. You and your family will love it.

I have a couple of Ocean items if you are interested. The 3-part front rubber mats and the Brandrup boot carpet. They were in my Ocean for about a week before I returned it to Eurovans. I also have a full set of carefully cut shelf protectors made from Dunelm Luxury Table Protector.

Hi Kayleigh, I’d be interested in the boot carpet. We have ordered the wood effect flooring so want that on show in the front but I’d like to protect the boot area.

The collapsible kettle is high on my list!

You would need to join as a VIP so I can message you. :thumb

This is not just Table Protector, this is Dunelm Luxury Table Protector :D

Where did you order from, I ordered 5 weeks ago and had my build date confirmed and it's in production this very week!

I've noticed that others have had their dates much quicker than me. I was expecting the build date last week but nothing yet. I ordered through Marshalls in Reading as they are only 20 minutes away from me. So far they have been great but a part of me wishes I'd gone to Breeze in Poole! Where did you order yours?

Just get buying, I enjoyed my first few days with the van installing loads of items!

Actually, I've just checked the calendar and I only ordered four weeks and two days ago.. It feels more like six though! Maybe I'll get some good news this week.

I ordered from Eurovans in Crawley directly (rather than via DTD) I would have preferred to order from my local dealer Van Centre Birmingham, but as the former gave me a discount of over £9,000 and the latter just gave me a load of BS about why they don't discount. Hopefully you got a decent deal from your local dealer....

Good luck Barry.

I've just been reading your posts in the leaking bellows thread, sounds like I'm going to need it!!!
Based on your experiences if they leak I'll be rejecting the vehicle in the 30 days....
Do hope you get yours sorted Jimmy
@Barry Chuckle , if you purchased through Eurovans and decide to reject if the bellows leak, definitely make sure you reject 30 days. I’m so glad I didn’t wait any longer based on the experience of @Jimmylondon07
Even within 30 days they were awkward and tried to wriggle out of a full refund.

Must have been heartbreaking for you, waiting so long for your dream camper then have to reject it. :(

The wait was three months, so not too bad. If it had been a year it would have been extremely annoying! I really wanted a new van to keep long term, but will likely end up keeping my T6 I think. I’m not confident VW will resolve bellowsgate before the order book closes, and we can’t be far off that, surely!

Welcome to the forum. You will find it invaluable and entertaining (it’s become my weekend reading when I get the weekly thread update by email) especially if you become a VIP member as others have said and get access to other information and shop discounts. There are some very knowledgeable people on here on all things Cali.
Enjoy the wait, and use it to do your research on what you think you’ll need for how you think you’ll use the van. Even then you’ll probably buy stuff you will never use. We waited 12 months for ours and gradually collected a cupboard full of stuff we thought we’d use, most of which are back in the cupboard. We won’t sell them though, just in case we feel we need it! Best tip for maximum enjoyment is to keep it minimalist or at least very well organised in terms of storage.
