Best Windscreen Cover?

What is the general opinion re: windscreen cover? Inside or Outside?

We need an insulated cover either way as will be california-ing all year round.

Knowing how insulation on a roof works, warm roof i.e. outside is usually less problematic vis-a-vis condensation, so assume external cover best?

I think this was my first purchase when I bough my van. Really happy and would buy again.

Both have pros and cons. I have internal screens and like not having to worry about packing them away when they’re wet. If I need some momentary privacy or want to open it up I can also do that without having to get out. Finally I am a detailing freak and don’t like the idea of rubbing grit and dead insect juice all over my pillars and glass. But that’s just me

In the winter or spring we had no issues with the fitted ones. Worked fine for the whole NC500 in April. This was also because the super duper thermal one we bought was just too big to carry and we always try and keep packing light. While away we spotted someone with the super thin Fuel Lagoon one. We ended up buying the slightly thicker one and it’s spot on. Only 50 quid and fold up inside one of the seats. The thin one can go in the glove compartment.

We have the Comfortz model, which was our first purchase after a couple of nights away (in December). We found it cuts down on the internal windscreen condensation. Very happy with it.

It does get a bit dewy in the mornings (regardless of rain) but the first rays of sun usually burn that off before we're ready to move off. It usually stays inside one of the chairs in the tailgate so gets put away last before we leave giving plenty of time to dry off. We find most of any moisture quickly shakes off anyway, so usually give it a quick shake first thing then leave it on to dry. We have a drybag for if it ever got really damp, but never needed to use it.

I did ponder the brandrup internal windscreen cover as a fallback as it packs down small.

With a previous van we had the unbranded internal screens which were too bulky.

Thanks @trev0rk Do they not leak where they are held in place by the door? I have a sunscreen that is 'clamped' by the door and it always leaks.

We observed / talked to fellow ‘vanners before buying. At first we fancied the external insulated type, but they’re quite big and when wet something else try and dry out. So we’ve opted for internal Isolite type. The side windows have Velcro pads, and the windscreen stays in place as it is. Good at light blocking, and reducing ( not totally eliminating) condensation. The screens are thin, and can stow in the roof bed space.
