Perhaps a member can answer the following query:
I am considering purchasing Parlemston 18" alloys c/w 255 45 R18 tyres..(I assume 103H) replacing my present "Cascavel" c/w Goodyear 4 Seasons 235 55 R17 103H tyres. I believe they will "stiffen up the wallow"..at possible expense of comfort.
Can a member advise that these Alloys (off California T6.1) will fit my California T6?..will have same dimension hub bore and same offset?
I will retain my steel wheel spare as it should have the the same o/d. I am aware the the alloys are diamond cut, possible corrosion... have similar (Patagonia) on my Tiguan..no problems so far!

Further to my earlier post regarding Palmerston alloys c/w 255 45 R18 tyres..I forgot to add..would the wider 255 tyre "scrub/rub" inside on the body and/or wheel arches.

Hi, yes these will fit your T6 no problem, and the 255/45 tyres will be fine, no rubbing or issues.
Palmerston wheels were an option in the T6 so you have nothing to worry about.
I had 18” Toluca wheels with the same size tyres on my T6 Ocean, no problem, and it was lowered about 60mm too.
 
My posts should not be in T4 Technical (my mistake?)..should be in T6 Technical!
 
Hi, yes these will fit your T6 no problem, and the 255/45 tyres will be fine, no rubbing or issues.
Palmerston wheels were an option in the T6 so you have nothing to worry about.

You can also "stiffen up the wallow" by fitting 30mm lowering springs.
 
Thank you Brembo (Dougie). Interesting that I could use 30mm lowering springs instead..but not my thoughts at this moment.

I know it wasn’t a question you asked but the best thing you can do to make a huge difference to the ride, wallowing etc and in my experience not really affect comfort, would be to install decent coilovers. My California is more comfortable and a LOT better/nicer to drive with coilovers than it was on standard suspension. I went for ST-XA but a lot of people go for ST-X (no rebound adjustment, where as the A version does). I’m pretty sure this would be about the same price (possibly cheaper) as Palmerstons and new tyres.

Just saw the ad you responded to regarding the wheels. You can definitely get the suspension changed for less than that if that’s what the reason for changing the wheels is.

I don’t know what “coil overs” are..l have seen reference to them previously (mostly on U-tube). Will consider coil overs…but main reason to change is for “appearance” of 18” wheels, with the added possibility of improving the ride (its a Van, and “wallows”) In my mind l hope it is because of the 17” tyres having 55 profile.
Yes, you have probably seen the same advertisement. Have been in touch with seller and making arrangement to buy. If buying fails..l will consider your good advice regarding coil overs.

Coilovers replace the standard suspension springs and dampers. So it’s replacing the suspension.
Mine now drives pretty much the same as a car, without the wallowing, hitting the bumps stops on speed bumps etc. They also lower the vehicle. Mine have a range something like -30 to -60mm. So nothing too extreme.
Good luck with the wheel purchase.

As I’ve always had 18”, I can’t give any feedback on whether they improve the handling or not. But they should do for the reasons you’ve said.
See how you feel after getting the wheels (as you said, they’re very nice wheels) and if you’re still not happy you can consider coilovers

That’s encouraging..l am not sure that l am using the word”wallow”correctly. My California “wanders”..l am hoping that the wheel/tyre change to 18” will reduce the wandering..nothing wrong with my suspension. I think that stiffer tyre wall may improve the “driveability. I have bought the wheels (immaculate) + very good tyres.

My ARBs are 24mm..so not HD!
