Disabling internal motion sensor

Hi. I have had problems turning off the internal motion sensor - so the alarm goes off through the night when camping (VW Beach 2019). Not very popular ! I've tried multiple combo of pressings of the internal switch on the pillar but no luck. Tried unlocking the door, but they lock themselves after a few mins and alarm is activated. The only way to turn off is to sleep with the door open which is not ideal. Any thoughts on where I may start to sort it out or some way to deactivate it ? (Also notice a flashing red light below the steering wheel, which may or may not have always been flashing and wonder if that anything to do with my problems)

Have you tried the button on the drivers door?

When locking yourself in at night don't use the key fob use the internal locking button on the driver's door near the mirror adjusters

Quick solution if you are on camping now.
Start the car.
Turn it of.
Leave the key in the ingition.
Don’t touch annything else anny more.
You should be able to open te doors and shut them. But if you use the lock fucntion it will start over.
We tend to never lock it when sleeping insinde. Never had anny problems.

When inside just lock with the button by the drivers door. Just the same as if you were in there driving it does not go off when you are in it and have taken key out of ignition and the van is looked from the inside.. Unlock there too to get out. however I unlock with the key fob .

If you leave the van on site to go to loo or wash up and a window is open you can disable the alarm by opening the driver's door and pressing the switch on the piler behind the drivers seat it will change colour, close drivers door, if you open any other doors it will need resetting again, can only be set with driver's door open.

Just watch you do not look your keys in my leaving by sliding door when it is still locked at drivers door as when you close the door I believe it will look. I always try to carry a spare key attached to me.

Just use the lock button on the drivers door.

You safer to unlock either by pressing the unlock button on the door, or just by a double pull on the door you are exiting by, either of these methods mean the door will be still unlocked if you exit the van & shut it behind you. If you use the keys there's a chance of being locked out.

No idea why but I assumed if you were in the van and wanted to disable the internal sensor you pressed the sensor off button on the pillar - but it seems I do the following : If in the van use the lock button by the mirror controls (internal sensor/alarm will be deactivated). If not in the van, and dog is, then open driver door, press pillar button, close driver door and lock van with key fob. Have I got that correct ?

If you have a dog, it’s worth investing in Carista then you can turn the alarm off permanently when required for longer stays. Takes about 10 seconds to do.

The door pillar method works but will reset if someone unlocks the van with the key fob a or re-opens the drivers door after you have closed it, you you then need to press the door pillar button again whilst the door is open.

(Above is based on 2012 Beach, so might be different for later vans)

I'd go along with all the responses (I' ve had exactly the same problems!). Another tip: When you return to the van and unlock it and enter through the rear door, the vehicle will in effect relock itself after 15 seconds. That, of course, re-activates the alarm. As a routine, when you unlock the van, just open and shut the front door: it will therefore remain unlocked with the alarm off.

When people say use the button on the driver’s door they don’t mean the little knob that pops upon and down. There are actual buttons (each with a lock/unlock graphic on them). I felt more than a “little knob” when using the pop up down button and the alarm was going off !

use the door button and 2 pulls of the side door knob will unlock that but keep the rest locked. All can be unlocked with the door button or your key fob.

It’s good to know you’re safely locked in but can easily get out.
