My footwell entry lights are quite scratched (this one is the worst), is there anyway to refresh them or is it a case of replacing?

If replacing, does anyone sell aftermarket California replacements or is it a case of buying OEM parts for £40-£45each?

I know it's not the end of the world having scratched lights! But they do seem to let down the rest of the interior

Strange wear pattern considering the surrounding trim is unmarked.
Cannot find any 3rd party replicas. £45 +/- seems to be the going price of OEM replacements.
 
Thanks, likewise - I've looked everywhere and found plenty for Caravelle after market lights but nothing for Cali. Oh well, maybe I'll have to bite the bullet at some point and go for OEM.

If that is the only alternative you could try removing one, rub it down and try repainting it. Worth a try.
 
If it's any consolation, mine have simply fallen out. Don't look too bad just missing - a row of LEDs
 
I had a similar problem but mine wasn’t as bad as yours. I touched mine up with a silver permanent marker type pen. It looked ok from a distance but I was never really happy with it. Luckily I found a genuine VW on eBay for £30 so bit the bullet and bought it.

I was also thinking that a silver pen might work as a temporary measure. I'll keep an eye out on ebay for any bargains. Never fails to amaze how disproportionate the price is for some parts!
 
Very strange wear, I've had my T6 with 'Highline' lights like that for over six years and 81000 miles and have hardly any marks on them.
 
Yeah it is odd, they were like that when I bought the van so not sure how it happened, I assumed they may wear on all of them but clearly not! The other two aren't anywhere near as bad though.
 
maybe protecting them from new with some clear film isn’t a bad idea. I think the paint is quite poor and mine have marks even though I don’t recall knocking them at all.

I had the same problem but made the mistake of thinking it was dirt and tried to scrub it clean and made it much worse. Like you I couldn’t believe the price if a replacement
 
Ahh, maybe that's what has happened at some point in the past. Think I might replace the worst one for now and leave the other two as they are no where near as bad.
 
Does anyone know what font they use on these lights? I have a vinyl cutter and could easily make a kit where you stick vinyl lettering onto the light to mask the letters then can use spray paint to renew the silver (or any other colour) then remove the vinyl lettering.

I had similar issue with lights, I think it is caused by a paint to plastic problem at manufacture. I had no real scuff marks, just disappearing paint.
my fix was respray after putting a strip of masking over the letters with a bit of touch up with pen when masking removed.

Interior Light for doorstep VW T5 (without Text)

Interior light for the doorstep of a VW T5 Multivan or similar. Prints in 2 parts. I recomment to use 0.1mm for the top part and 0.3 for the body. Assembly needs 2 screws of approx M3x12 and 4 5mm LEDs in the colour of your choice. The top part will need supports to print. Use PETG or ABS...

I repainted mine with silver enamel modelling paint!

You haven't scratched them it's a fault in the finish, I had exactly the same problem on my 69 plate van - one from new, the others followed over time. As I type mine are being replaced under warranty... David
 
Please how does one remove the lights without damaging them?
