T6.1 Ocean 150
I will very soon become the proud owner of my first Cali - a new Ocean (exciting!), but are wondering what to do with a Portal Potti 365 which we have previously used for camping. I realise the vast majority of people have the smaller 335 version but I'm in two minds as wether to keep the 365 or sell that and buy the 335 instead.

Does anyone know the height of the boot in a T6.1 Ocean? I've seen other threads that say the 365 fits on a T5 (I think) where the parcel shelf is on the high setting, but not sure if the T6.1 has a similar adjustment. As an alternative, we could of course keep in front of the rear seats but my wife is not too keen on that!

360mm from floor to underside of bed board. Obviously less if you fit a slide out tray.

From previous research (I don't have my van yet), the 335 fits easily under board in the boot, the 345 just fits and the 365 is too tall.

Check the 335 page on the Thetford site (below), there's an overview document link on it with all the dimensions of the various models.

I think a lot of people go for the 335 as it fits into the right hand kitchen cupboard. Being a lanky bloke who doesn't want to keep it in the kitchen area, I decided the extra height (and width) of the 345 might be more comfortable to use whilst still fitting in the boot. Only thing I've found is that the depth of the 345 means it doesn't fit in the usually recommended Ottoman storage type cube thing from Dunelm as it's over 400mm.

Didn't think about the 345. That might be a good call. The wife isn't keen on keeping in the kitchen cupboard either, so we'd always have it in the boot. And we'd use a toilet tent once on site so no need for any storage box. As a bonus, the 345 is £15 cheaper than the 335 on Amazon too :)

It's an extra 4cm width and depth, but if that's a make or break on boot space, I've probably got more serious packing issues!

Will a 345 still fit when the downstairs bed is out between the bed and the front seats. Bit undecided myself between a 335 and 345.

Unless you're traveling with more than two people, and/or expect to be spending longish periods wild camping, there is (IMO) little benefit in going with anything bigger than the 335. The tank capacity of the 335 is 10 litres which will do two people for several days.

Also the 335 even when almost full is reasonably light to carry round from back of van into the living space for overnights, and its waste tank is quite handy to carry and empty.

If you're planning to stay places more than one or two nights, with a toilet tent set up for a family use, a 345 is probably a good bet due to the slightly larger capacity (but still only 12 litres versus 10 for the 335).

Decided to go for the 335. I think the 345 would have worked well for our needs too though.
There’s three of us (me, wife + 5 year old) but given we only managed to fill the 365 after a week of not emptying (the subsequent emptying being particularly memorable!!!) we probably don’t need the extra capacity of the 345.

You could travel with it behind the driver’s seat secured with “roc straps”.

We just stick our 335 in an upside down Dunelm Ottoman, always ready to use :D and we don’t secure it either…… I reckon if we had a crash worthy of a loo full of poo flying about the van it would probably be so serious that it would be the least of our worries:happy

Yes it will. In daytime we use the 345 as a side table when we are not driving. While driving it is fastened to a front chair.

We use our 335 under the right side of kitchen fits neatly and doesn’t rattle around on the fitted tray

On a pub stop night we sleep upstairs have the toilet out of cupbard

On a site with the awning setup we leave it in the awning for emergency wee’s

Thanks - as I suspected, it definitely won't fit then.
It’s a 345, and I’m going to fit a sliding tray in from the club shop as long as they can powder coat the 710 in black. So looks like a 345 will fit on a sliding tray

Might need to check the height where the bar under the rear bed is (for adjusting the rake of the bed) I’ve seen others say you need to put the Portapotti on the right hand side when the tray is used.
