I was trying to fit a Sparesafe today, but the locking bolt looks too short at just over 50mm. If I put it through the bracket, the spacer and the Sparesafe, there isnt any thread showing to screw into the van.

How long should the security bolt be..?

You have the short towbar version give the shop a call they will send you the correct one

To be fair, I have a tow bar and stated that on the order. Am I meant to fit the spacers when I have a tow bar ….?

If not, then it would fit but I guess the other (left side) bolt would be too long..?

I’m likely to go to the shop on Monday to buy a few more bits so I could check then.

Another question, I bought a spare wheel/tyre that is 205/65 x R16. I fitted the spare wheel carrier with the supplied spacers and bolts (I left off the Sparesafe for now) and fitted the spare wheel. But it wobbles in the carrier as the carrier doesn’t clamp it fully to the underside of the van. I used the higher of the two locating holes on the front of the carrier.

Does a 205 tyre not work with the carrier..? The wheel/tyre was a new take off from a T6.1 Transporter.

The end of the cradle nearest the front of the van is held by a pin that passes through a couple of holes. There are a couple of sets of holes to allow for different tyre widths. It sounds like you need to adjust yours.

As I said, I’m using the highest holes. If I use the other holes it would be even looser.

I also wonder if there are different size spacers…? If not, I can make or source some. I probably only need to take 10mm off.

There are different size spacer for 16inch or 17 inch wheels

Thanks for your help guys and gals. Great service.
Hi
Did you get to the bottom of the sparesafe length of bolts for a Cali with towbar (t6.1).
I seem to be going in circles trying to find the answer.

Phil

I’ve got a tow bar and just ordered the spare safe from the club shop and it fitted fine

You just need to give the wheel and carrier a good push. It shifts up 1/2 an inch which gives you the extra.

You might also want to double check that an R16 rim will clear the brake calipers if your profile is correct and you have an Ocean - from memory, the front calipers on an Ocean require a 17" rim.

That's a good point, never thought of that...! Thanks for the heads up...

I went back to the club shop and got the normal longer bolt and a shorter spacer and it was just right.

No idea what the short bolt was for. So just order the regular kit.

Does anybody know what a 17" Davenport with a 215 weighs. I'm trying to keep weight down as it's a 4motion.

Phil

They only come in one size?

We ordered this and with a 17" wheel in a hanger kit all works perfectly.
They used to sell two versions, the std one and one for fitting with a tow bar (which I bought). It turned out it didn't fit with the tow bar and the std one was fine. Even the guys in the shop didn't understand what the purpose of the "tow bar" version was.

It seems now they only sell the std version.

I had the same issue with the spare wheel security bolt. Ordered the std one for Californias, it was about 55mm long and way too short. The longer one (for vehicles with factory towbars) is 90mm and fits perfectly. Breeze swapped them over with no issues. This is the part number for towbar equipped vehicles:
