Looking to buy
Hi all - we're new to this, so apologies if it's been asked a million times (I did do a search but couldn't find an answer).

I'm looking to get a spare gas bottle primarily for the Cadac, but also as an emergency backup to the main. I'm wondering where people store theirs safely?

In a plastic box on the floor of the boot. Same size as the original, so can do a quick swap, and don't have to go searching for another for the rest of the holiday. We do all our cooking inside the van, so don't need one for outside use.

Cheers guys - I assumed there was no spare space in the gas cupboard, thanks for validating

Ideally remove from the vehicle before going to sleep.

Keep the carrying toggle / bottle seal on and you should be okay in my opinion. It’s not concerned us.
Everyone's risk appetite will be different. If you have a young child going to sleep in the van before you do (as I do) you may be a little more risk adverse. The important thing is to be aware of risks particularly when the compounding factors, like lack of dropout vent, are not necessarily obvious.

In the wardrobe in that recess at the bottom, with a nice 30mm thick price of foam cut to it's shape to stop it moving filling the recess. Also have some other bits on top of the foam packed in the recess keeping it from.moving even better.

We keep ours in the rear cupboard above the fitted bottle, it’s in a blue padded cover/bag which we bought from EBay

We decided to buy the different gas fitting and use canisters instead - easier to carry and the cadac even has a space for them in the bag. We carry both fittings in case of issues and we need the large bottle as a backup but in reality the canisters last ages.

In the rear cupboard, top shelf, in a carrier bag. Starting to question this now, although I do have the carry handle screwed on.

We keep a smaller (904) cylinder wedged in the depths of the boot, as a back-up and also for occasional use with the Cadac.

Cheers, that's exactly what we ended up doing. Couldn't find any 2nd hand ones at short notice, so it was a rather expensive trip to the local Campingaz dealer!
