Whilst travelling in our Cali down the Spanish Coast a couple of days ago, my wife and I stopped for lunch at a service station just outside Benidorm. After debating whether to eat at a picnic table or shelter from the 30 degree heat in the van, we decided to pop the roof and eat our recently purchased Lidl fare inside. A family of four pulled up next to us in an estate car and laid out their picnic about 10m from their vehicle. While I was still struggling to break into our new-style pringle container, an old jag pulled up behind our neighbours car. A man (I guess in his 50's) in a hi-viz vest got out of the back of the jag and crouched down whilst spying on the family. We were still working out what was going on when he quickly opened both doors of their car before the family realised what was happening and ran to protect their belongings. The man in hi-viz retreated empty handed into the jag which quickly drive off as the family briefly gave chase while banging on it's roof. The 2 guys in the jag were obviously opportunist thieves whom we later remembered had been circling the carpark when we arrived, presumably looking for such an opportunity. We will in future always lock our car even when picnicing a few metres away.

It’s not nice to hear stories like this but it happens all over the world. Always be vigilant, never trust anyone try and park next to other motorhomes. I play a lot of baseball so I keep a baseball bat nice and handy.
