Im getting conflicting advice for my family travelling to france this summer in our ocean and wondered if anyone would point me in the direction of what exact documents do i need to take with me travelling on the tunnel and all of us have had 3 vaccines , any help would be gratefully received thank you , looked online and getting more and more confused sorry

Just returned last week

1) obviously: current in date passport for each passenger
2) vaccine proof: Upload to carriers portal before travel for each passenger
3) Declaration of non covid status / contact for each passenger (French form)

take paper copies of 2&3

edit : item 3 has now been scrapped = was not required (rule was changed very very shortly before travel ) we filled in a printed copies that were subsequently not required or asked for.

vehicle whilst in France :

you will need to carry
4) original V5
5) proof of insurance

you will need your booking reference to enter the “terminal” use the touch screens at the entrance directly from the dedicated M20 motorway junction. - see ET website
the machine will print a alpha numeric hanger to identify which train you will be on

once inside the “terminal”
drive to the terminal building and park up,
look at the large screens in the car park, they will tell you when your train is boarding and when to proceed to the departure queue
leave the car park, go through French then UK passport control

You will be classed as a “large vehicle“
on leaving the UK passport control head to the departure area, look out for “Large vehicle“ lane.
pull up at a kiosk, you will be directed into a numbered lane, to queue for final time before boarding.

Bon voyage

If you are travelling via the Tunnel your need to upload certain documents before you arrive at the Terminal. Instructions seem very clear to me showing requirements for fully vaccinated and non vaccinated passengers.

thats so clear thank you so very much perfectos!

If you read the requirements in the link I posted above (#4) it seems apparent you do not need a declaration of non covid status/contact if you are fully vaccinated. Or did I read this wrongly?

i have just been on the tunnel page perfectos and it stats this

Documents to upload :

  • Negative COVID-19 test result
You must also bring evidence of the negative result with you to present to the border authorities.

i know im being daft here but how do i prove a negative result ?

UK is now on French Green List.

Just need proof of Vaccination or will have to go through non-vaccinated procedures.

Info from Gov here

Aside from uploading our Covid passes to Eurotunnel site and taking a passport there were none when we crossed last Tuesday.
Restrictions in France have largely been relaxed now. Restaurants no longer require Covid pass or masks.

Use the NHS app,

once registered for the NHS app, you will have access to your “Covid pass“ You can down load the proof of all covid vaccines for “travel” (each passenger needs to register on the NHS app)
Your NHS covid pass will then be available to you to view, you can then:
down load PDF
*Receive off line copy
*View records
*Add to Your phone Wallet
upload these via the ET portal.

the Covid pass remains accessible on your phone via the NHS app (once you have requested it) I would suggest you have paper copies and off line copies available just in case.

you can request PDF copies to be emailed to you, so you can print hard copies

it’s very easy to do.

The ET website tends to be a little delayed in the providing the correct information when it changes.

prior to departure the website was advising us the “Declaration “ needed to be provided, but just before travel that requirement was removed, although ET website still showed it as a requirement, we just kept an eye on the latest announcements from the U.K. / French government which confirmed no “Dec” was required on the day we travelled.

it is a simple process, and one you have uploaded the Required document, your status turns green ( on the ET portal) confirming they have all the required details to allow travel.

Hey bumble, I read that you had your Cali detailed in Sheffield.
Did it make any difference as far as cleaning of dead flies was concerned?
Just driving back from Italy now and the Green/white Cali is mottled with more red/yellow/black marks from exploding bugs than I’ve ever seen.

Hopefully that flu ointment is sold by the litre! Looks gorgeous by the way

Presently in France, travelled on Eurotunnel, up loaded proof of vacancies and normal passport documents.
Had to supply details relating to my 14 yr old's 48 hr fit to travel test as he is only partially vaccinated, all very simple to do.
Spent the last two wks travelling and haven't once had to supply any covid related details, most restrictions have been lifted.
Masks still compulsory on public transport.

Does French border not require your vaccination status to be given via the Tous Anti-covid app any longer?

If you are fully vaccinated & you upload your Covid pass to your carrier in advance, then no.

Make sure that you have paper NHS document of proof of vaccination.

Not been requested to upload anything to Brittany Ferries so possibly only the Tunnel doing that. Last crossed in March & booked for 26th and just taking Documentation.

In addition to completing Eurotunnel documents I carried hard copies of vaccine records and fit to travel test for 14yr old as he was unable to have second jab due to catching covid and having to wait 12 wks for second jab.
Anyone who is not fully vaccinated is classed as unvac'd. Adults need 'a good reason to travel' holiday not considered a good reason, however minor's with fully vac'd parents can travel but only with a 48 hr fit to travel test.
Never had to produce any records at campsites, restaurant's even though rates are high here.
When in Menton police very active at the old boarder crossing checking paperwork, not sure why but suspect covid checks as South of France considered high risk area.

I am travelling to the UK on Tuesday via Eurotunnel, returning the following Monday. Nothing is needed when going from France to the UK, but UK to France I have to upload my vaccination certificate. However, I am not allowed to do this until 3 days before travel - i.e. I have to do it when in the UK. This is ridiculous - if I’m vaccinated now, I’m not suddenly going to become unvaccinated by next weekend! Bit inconvenient, but I’ll manage. Problem is, last time I did this, the documents were not validated by the system by the time I arrived at the terminal, so had to go inside the building an queue up to get them validated in person.

The system works well if everything is in order - the number plate recognition system checks your booking when you arrive, and simply prints your pass - no manual input required. But if the paperwork is not in order, it becomes a bit of a pfaff. Strongly recommend uploading the docs as soon as possible.

Medical insurance although I believe the European health Insurance Card still works.

We are preparing for a trip to France at the end of July, and on possibly the busiest weekend in the calendar (a Bison Fute ‘black Saturday’). Our driving checklist for travel is: [Edit following inputs from others]
- UK sticker
- Emovis / Liber-t toll tag
- Crit’ Air vignette sticker (travelling through at least one restricted traffic zone)
- EU breakdown cover (checked via VW but still may go for Green Flag also)
- Insurance green card (came with the Comfort Insurance policy) - not needed now, but still taking it.
- Insurance certificate
- V5c
- Driving licences
- Hi viz vests (one per passenger)
- Breathyliser kit - not required now.
- Breakdown warning triangle
- Medical kit - not a legal requirement, but handy anyway
- Checked headlights need no correction stickers etc (LED type - totally flat beams)
- Passports
- NHS Covid Pass certificates for travel
- Medical cards EHIC / UHIC
- Euro adaptor for electric hook up
- Spare key
- Chilled water in fridge for the journey
- Beer in fridge for use on arrival !!
- Travel insurance - all travelling (annual policy)
- Cash in Euros for at least one tank of fuel (just in case problem with card)
- Spare pair of prescription glasses if required for driving
- Map book of France - now we’re talking old school! but is handy when no 4G.

Have we missed anything??

Personally I always have Travel Insurance to cover repatriation costs etc of passengers and vehicle. VW Assistance doesn't cover that, as far as I am aware. Could be wrong.

Good to add to the list - I will edit it. We have annual travel insurance and that slipped my mind :thanks

I believe that the car insurance covers the vehicle (Comfort).
