I have just bought the Brandrup ISOLITE Inside (Trapezium Mirror Base & Traffic Recognition version) from the club shop but I can’t for the life of me figure out how it fits.

I’ve ended up with my tape measure out and it feels like something is very wrong.

If I measure from the internal base of the windscreen to the bottom of the mirror base, it’s 60cm. If I measure from the bottom of the Brandrup Isolite to the bottom of the cut out for the mirror base it’s 72cm. It feels like the Isolite is far too big and I just can’t get close to finding how it fits.

I’ve checked the packaging and it’s labeled as though I’ve bought the right thing. Does anyone have any advice on how I get this to fit?

Thanks
Rich

Curious. Do you have a rubber insulator tubing in the gap between the dash and the window. If yes, that will explain why it doesn't fit. I assume the the Isolite is designed to slot into that space.

Have you put a filler at the back edge of the dashboard to stop stuff going down the gap?

The bottom edge of the Isolite slides into that gap & the top edge of ours sits on the front edge of the ceiling liner - we didnt fix the van part of the velcro, the rigidity of the Isolite + the sun visors are enough to keep it in place.

Thanks you!

I bought the Cali used but yeah, it looks like I do have a rubber tube, didn’t realise that wasn’t standard.

There is a piece of foam above the VIN number (see image) which feels like it is glued on, is this standard and does it need to be removed for the Isolite to fit?

When you have the Isolite fitted, are your able to get it to block out all light?

Thanks

Not standard. The gap is completely open.

The foam above the VIN became standard on later vans, I assume it was to meet the revised rules on the VIN plate and readability. However ours has now fallen off and dropped down so very much an after thought !

Funnily enough (not!) I have had the same delivered today and have exactly the same issue! It just seems that they are for a different van altogether - miles too big for the side windows and the cut doesn‘t even flow the line of the window! Did you get anywhere with yours?

Yeah I did get it all set up in the end, my major problem was the rubber tubing on the dash. Once I removed that, I got it in ok.

It definitely is snug but I view that as a good thing to keep out the light.

We are going away in the van this weekend so I will take some photos on how it fits later, probably on Thursday as I’m away with work the first half of this week

Mine don't fit touching the glass, they sit flat on the door frame & leave an air gap to the glass.
