Awning Time

So have been looking at awnings and think the Vango Airhub Hexaway II Low is going to be the best option has anyone used one ??

I just sold one as I wasn’t using it, we rarely stay on a pitch for more than a day. It’s a nice bit of kit though and you get a good work out pumping it up manually! The other reason for moving it on was I thought it might be handy as a sleeping option for the rare occasion my grown up kids join us, I did buy the partition curtain but the ground sheet design is such that there is a risk of water ingress in bad weather.

So in summary if you are just wanting extra covered living space for lounging/cooking it’s very good and pretty easy to set up (the optional footprint really helps with set up as well as extra protection for the groundsheet). I’d recommend a 12v pump though or a high quality double barrel manual pump designed for SUP's

Hi many thanks for the informative reply, shame about just selling it. I think try main reason for wanting one is you just can't trust the British weather and don't like cooking in the rain LOL

We always cook in the van anyway - we have an awning but hardly use it except to store the bikes under cover.

Yes I will cook in the van but don't like the idea of fry in it and would prefer to be outside...for anyone looking at one the Driveway kit needs to be a 6 X 6 as the Vango is 6mm and so is the rail on the California...

My advice is get a Cinch hub. We used to have an Outdoor Revolution Air Beam Drive-away., whilst, do the job they are a faff to put up & down, and take up too much storage space, (Hence you see so many used once advertised for sale). I got the Cinch recently & just tried it out this week. I didn't attach to the van or roll-out awning, but instead pitched with entrance door nestled just under partially rolled -out awning. You can buy a connector from Cinch but personally don't see the point. Soon get the knack of taking down. Watch the You tube video's. Just wind in your awning and drive off, leaving tent marking your pitch.
