Vinyl wrap for table and counter tops

Hi everyone.

I am going to vinyl wrap the interior table, possibly with my my own design if I can find somewhere to print it.

I wanted to ask about the counter top glass (T6.1) does it need to be specific stuff to cover those? And if I do, do I need to be super careful about the heat? Eg not putting the counters down while the hob is still hot?

We used Pixers to print our own design for a table cover. We just emailed them a photo and the size we wanted.

There is also a someone on here that does precut vinyl film for the T6.1 glass worktops (search worktop protectors on this site) or you could go to a company such as Purlfrost and order a roll of window film and cut to size yourself (slightly cheaper but more hassle !). I always wait for the job to cool before lowering the worktop again.

Whether you have vinyl on the glass kitchen covers or not, you’ll only close them once on a hot burner. £250+ for a replacement.
 
We bought pre-cut vinyl for the glass tops, but the one on the sink melted the first time we used the hob!

Internal Door Vinyls

I like colour, I like bright things. I dislike grey which means that buying an Ocean came with a small drawback. I am thinking now I would like to cover the kitchen drawers with a vinyl that matches the outside of the Cali, green and white. Does anyone know of anyone that does this? Or anyone...

Was that using the job nearest to the sink? I read somewhere (might have been here) to only use the sink-side hob with the sink worktop up?

Wow!! This is so so good! You don’t still have the original picture and dimensions needed do you? Would you mind if we used?
 
B&Q do a range of stick on vinyl rolls in various widths and patterns. Nothing quite as adventurous as the designs from Pixars but some nice subtle patterns.

That’s what we used, DC Fix - it’s brilliant stuff and very cost effective

It was, yes - don't remember reading anything like that in the book, the only restriction I recall is to not open the fridge whilst cooking to avoid melting the plastic underside of the lid.

Oh... and to remove the washing up bowl!

Thank you. My wife is an artist so the design is actually an original painting she did which we have on our wall. It is actually for sale, so I don't think she would be happy with me giving the design away! Sorry!

I can't remember the dimensions but we basically just added a couple of cm all the way round the table and then just trimmed to size with a craft knife.

Yes give them the dimensions then trim. I was a bit nervous about doing it. I bought a craft knife v sharp, the slight lip on the table does in fact make it quite easy to cut precisely and bubbles didn’t seem to be to much of an issue. But I know what you mean about the flashbacks
 
size ordered for the door table was 90 x 52cm,
trim to size / profile after fitting, use a scalpel or similar to follow the profile of the edge trim

Degrease / clean the table throughly (isopropyl alcohol)

Use a squeegee when fitting, peel the packing away only as needed, use the squeegee to apply the decal and when your happy that no bubbles left peel a bit more etc . If you get lots of bubbles simply lift and redo the section. (do not touch the sticky backing

do NOT do the wet method.(edges will lift )

cut around the table edge with a scalpel to trim off the excess overhang.

Couple of photos showing the edge of the table used for trimming (use the slight lip created by the edge protector as the guide for the blade) blade vertical or slightly pointed towards to outside of the table (use the squeegee to firmly press the vinyl into the edge before cutting)

+1 for ensuring that the table is grease free, degrease with meths or similar. I didn't do that the first time around with my Lidl special and it bubbled in the heat after about six months. Luckily I'd splashed out on 2 sets at £1.99 each and had a spare roll to redo it. It's been fine since. So £3.98 in reality :thumb

Ah, well was worth a try! Great design by a talented artist obviously. Any website I can view the work on?
