What is the most you have paid for a pitch?

One to avoid. Max ever paid £35 {uk clubsite}

The c&mc site at Brixham was about £50 night for the 3 of us this summer, but it did have a pool which we made good use of.

£34 for fully serviced at Lytton Lawns, Milford.

11€ yesterday, right next to the river near Annecy, Showers included.

Oh, sorry wrong way.

Lake district £37, bog standard Rip Off Britain type affair.

£70, Irfon River near Builth Wells. Tight restrictions as well; no change of date, no refunds on any cancellations. Only booked because of the Royal Welsh show, and unless they change their pricing model we won’t be returning. Currently at the good C&C club site at Tregurrian in Cornwall - £25 per night.

Something like £90 for pitch with its own private loo/shower at a holiday park (complete with theme and water park) in the Netherlands.

Hey @The Tall Luthier ……. We’re on our way to Savoie next week, do you have any recommendations for things to see, best or cheapest Aires?

Apologies for thread hijack ;)

Last weekend we paid £65 per night at Tristram in Polzeath and they still charged extra for showers

Up to £15 max once in the dim and distant past :D we prefer wild or free/cheap Aires:thumb

50, 65, 70, 90 pound for a pitch. The pessimist in me would conclude that camping is dying... ;-(

€78.20 at Sunelia Ile de Re last week of August including very nice private shower, toilet, fridge and sink.
Then just €25 at Le Brevedent the next day - September 1st, low season.

£68 with no Electric in Chertsey last Monday!

Nice new clean toilet block though!

£44 per night for 2 of us. Fully serviced pitch, ehu, water and waste on a hard standing. Bank Holiday week. Last pitch available. Anglesey.
We did take a sharp intake of breath, however it was a 1 min walk to a lovely beach, had amazing views and although I find it alot for a camping pitch, I would go there again for 2 nights.

We spent 3 weeks touring Cornwall in June with the North Coast averaging £30 for a fully serviced pitch but the south coast being between £15 and £20 for the same.

We tend to do a few days at places without services then 1 or 2 nights with.

£30 on a site at Barrow in Leicestershire, although they kept their prices lower for a long time. Nice site , can be a bit windy. Use it 3 or 4 times a year.

Pitches no. We have a bolt hole down here.

Things to do, yes!
Hiking: loads of it, Komoot is great for finding hikes wherever you are.
Cycling: boy you better like hills or you’re going nowhere. Again Komoot is great wherever you end up.
Lakes: the water is lovely and warm this time of year.
Annecy: super lush place, great cycle around the lake, mountains to the east make for great hikes with spectacular views.
Back Road from Annecy to Bonneville is a stunning drive, the col isn’t for the feint hearted. The campsite on that road was 11€

On a budget, drive into Chamonix and over the col to Italy, everything is cheaper and better there; coffee, food, hill walks and ice cream, áperol spritz . Budget or none, go there. The skyway up monti bianchi is so so very worthwhile. Much cheaper than the Chamonix version, although the Chamonix train to the glacier is nice.

Mountain biking in les gets, great if that’s your thing. It was mine but pain seems to be getting more painful!
White water rafting is still on though the ’white’ part is lacking as it’s been so dry round these parts.

If you like, tell me what you’re into I might have specifics.

Wow! Thanks @The Tall Luthier (Umbrella Academy?). Plenty to be getting on with there!

We do like visiting cute and charming villages (who doesn’t?), castles, Chateaux, fortified towns, vineyards and wineries, forest and hill walking, water activities…… I guess it’s all there really! Cycling is limited to our 3 speed Brommies so best kept flat.

Oh did you mean the D1203?
Also which way out from Chamonix?

Cheers

In that case Annecy ticks all those boxes. Medieval, flat around the lake 26 miles for cycling, water activities galore, great walk around the top, drive to col de colbandieres and walk up to Mont Veyrier.

Camping is around 30€ in summer, not too sure when autumn prices kick in.

The best direction to Chamonix from there is via Thônes and La Grand Bornard, Bonneville.

Mont Blanc tunnel is almost worth the 54€, if you’re planning on the sky flyer the other side

umbrella thing, no! A Luthier makes stringed instruments, in my case acoustic guitars, hee hee.

We paid the best part of €240 a night for a front row pitch facing the beach at Playa Montroig in Spain this summer. It's a smashing site for the kids and that but by god it's pricey.

If there was a prize - I think you win hands down!

Why the hell are we in France?

I bet it won't take long for you all to guess.

Hint - we've been wandering the French countryside for twelve days and overnight stops have cost us a total of 11.84€. (£10.22)

Oh and diesel was 1.63€ per litre in Digoin this morning. That's about £1.40 / litre!

Don’t make me angry and need to think again about a passport for our dog !
