Hi there.

My friend has a 16 plate T6 Beach (ad blue etc).

He assumed that the recent clean air zone would mean his Euro 6 engine would be exempt (Euro 6 and beyond don’t get charged). But he has recently received various fines. When we inputted his reg into the vehicle checker (https://www.gov.uk/clean-air-zones) it says he is liable to being charged.

Does anyone know of early T6s not having Euro 6 engines. He has ad blue. I thought this meant it was definitely Euro 6.

Anyone able to shed any light?

Does this help

the answer is his vehicle is Euro 6 , however that depends on his V5 stating the correct Nox value

Edit, the enforcement is purely from what the V5 shows - I.e. your reg is checked against the DVLA database , compliant no fine vs no compliant fine

The T6 commercial vans built between 2015-2016 had the T5.1 engines, without Adblue, and hence were Euro5 . All NON-Commercial T6s from September 2015 had to be Euro6 with Adblue.
Your friend needs to check his V5c. It should say M1, Diesel Car, Body Type Motor Caravan.
It it does say that then the Database used to check vehicle compliance with Euro specification is wrong and there is a system to correct it.

There has been instances where forum members have reported the V5 stating the wrong classification for California,
I can’t find the threads easily, try using the search function or Google

If the registration date fits into the required time period and not showing as a EURO6 then looks like some DVLA error needs sorting.

Euro 6

European Union (EU) legislation sets out exhaust emissions standards for new vehicles sold in the EU. They govern the limits on pollutants emitted in vehicle exhaust gas (sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and diesel exhaust particulates). Since September 2015, all passenger carrying vehicles must be registered as Euro 6, and Commercial vehicles since September 2016.

Has he got a private plate on it? There have been previous reports of vehicles having plates changed loosing their exempt status.

Hi all!!

So, quick update. My friend contacted DVLA who had the wrong Euro status for his vehicle. It has now been rectified and is registered as Euro 6.

This happens quite a bit apparently, so look out for it!

Bristol City Council have also cancelled all his Clean Air Zone fines!

Thanks to everyone who offers advice.

I have a March 2016 registered Ocean with Adblue, whichas it is Euro6 compliant I was not expecting to be subject to Clean Air Zones costs.

When checking on https://www.gov.uk/clean-air-zones it came back saying that it would be charge in some but not all cities.

On the site there is a link https://contact.dvla.gov.uk/caz to contact them. I explained that my vehicle was a private Campervan and should not be included, following on form WelshGas post earlier I also gave them the following information from my V5
J. Vehicle Category - M1
X. Taxation Class - Diesel Car
D5. Body Type - Motor Caravan

The following day I got the following response:
"Based on the information available on your vehicle's DVLA record, I can confirm that your vehicle is compliant with the minimum emissions standards for Clean Air Zones, and your vehicle is not subject to Clean Air Zone charges.

I have requested for your record to be updated to reflect this."

Word of warning about changing registration numbers:
"Should you change your Vehicle Registration Number in the future, you will need to notify the Drive in a clean air zone service to have your vehicle record updated."

I recall that it took some months for my Private plate to show the correct vehicle details for many months. 3 changes and all had a delay. Apparently Private users periodically buy updates hence delay there.

That was for parts locating not Clean Air Zones which I'd assume have direct live DVLA access. Never assume??
