Hello, I am in the process of trying to get a bent roof straightened out.

Previous threads here suggest the roof is made of aluminium. Mine, though, doesn’t feel like metal. Plastic or fibreglass maybe.

Can anyone confirm what the T6.1 roof is made of?

Thanks

It is aluminium.

Thanks for the repair tip. If anyone has a recommendation down south, that would be great.

A prompt response from Claridges who tell me the roof can’t be repaired. It must be replaced.

Is it very badly damaged ? Most of them have the little buckle near the hinge where someone tried to shut something in it. Does it still close properly ?

It’s a small kink at the back where I caught the top of a bike rack when I closed it (too hard).
But there seems to be a knock on as the rear batons pop out under the roof when I close it. Just had the van in for various warranty repairs. And it was fixed for a bit. But has now popped out again.

Just ordered a bungee for the bellows and I hope that will resolve the baton issue.

But I’d like to get the roof sorted.

Cross my fingers for you, new roof .... ouch! Insurance claim?

I do. Very small kink. Could it be causing the canvas so sit wrong and bend the batons?

It’s pouring with rain at the moment so I only pics of the roof closed….

OK. I'm not an expert but I believe that is fixable, but not by a bodyshop that deals with insurance accident repairs, all they do is replace panels or in this case the roof, but a small independent bodyshop that specialises in renovations of older vehicles etc. Old fashioned panel beating to get a functional repair and filler to give a cosmetic repair.
