Hi All,

Figured I'd jump in and say hello. I've just ordered a VW California via Swansway Liverpool. Now the wait begins with a lead time of 6-12 months quoted. Hopefully in time for next summer.

Now time to start researching the accessories and road trips in anticipation of the vans arrival. This site looks like a great resource with a wealth of knowledge and information contained within.

I look forward to chatting with some of you along the way, to hear your experiences and take advise on the must knows, or the must haves!|

Stay safe :)

Congratulations!! You won’t go wrong with this forum! Everyone is amazing. The wait will be worth it! I’ve just sold mine, not for wanting to, but just had the very best memories!!!!

Welcome to the forum. We collected our Ocean from Liverpool in February, and we had good service from Swansway. So you‘re not disappointed though, I’d say LVC is a bit optimistic on delivery times, so focus on around 12 months rather than 6 months.

Welcome along!
I can recommend not actually buying anything for now, but writing it down or saving a link in your phones notes. That way you won’t risk filling your spare room for a year with stuff you don’t really need, or realising there is a better product and selling the first item before you’ve even bought the van (can you sense I’m talking from experience?!).
If you must scratch the itch, just to have a bit of California in the house a cable is one of the few essential items.
I’d recommend a 25m hook-up cable on a cable reel like this. Some suggest carrying a 15m+10m cables, but some U.K. sites won’t allow connections, and this reel means you don’t need to untangle the whole length each time anyway. There’s a storage bag available in the shop that fits perfectly too.

May you be blessed with restraint and patience. As above, if you take delivery in less than 12 months you’ll be one of the lucky ones…

We ordered ours 10th March and told to expect 12months, anything arriving before this is a bonus.
Good luck

Loves it , a bit of sound advise already. I’ll be showing restraint and not looking at purchasing anything until I have a clearer idea of when it’s going to be delivered. I expected closer to 12 months, to be honest if I have it in time for next years festival season I’ll be a happy man, in the meantime I’ll just keep reading the forum!

why did you sell it

:welcome from another LVC (and California) fan.

Our Cali Ocean is on order from Liverpool. Communication initially was non-existent but a change of sales person earlier this year has helped. Not with delivery times though, we ordered June 21 and were told recently it had gone into build at wk 20 (18th May), but it's still stuck in build waiting for something but don't know what.

I'm sure it will arrive sometime..!

Enjoy yours when it arrives...;-)

I’ve been happy with the service from Liverpool so far. Not actually got a van yet though but they do email me with updates and respond quickly when I email them.

I ordered an Ocean at the end of August last year and it’s currently in build now so hoping I’ll get it by the end of August this year

All dealerships struggle to get information from Germany as the trouble caused by Russia invading has disrupted supply chain more than most can imagine. Waiting for any new car especially an EV means a wait of at least 6 months. A friend has been waiting more than 9 months for a Skoda Enyaq company car and still no sign. Our problem is we are so used to quick service we have become less tolerant and definately less patient.

I've bought 2 vans from Liverpool & one from Wrexham. They're a very busy dealership but fine to deal with & by far the best value a lot of the time.

Do they proactively update you..? I get responses to emails, but it's me doing a monthly status check.

I read that other dealers do a 2 week update, even if its to say "no change".

They do proactively update me but not as often as I ask them. Whenever I get an update email it causes considerable excitement which is then deflated by the ‘No news’ content!

Just been quoted a wait time of 18 to 24 months for a new ID.3 and the dealer saw not much improvement in this for at least a year maybe 2.
