Hi All, been looking around for some decent wind and rain deflectors and i saw some recommendations on Heko.

If you are undecided etc head over to the video below hopefully helps.

Happy campering all

I wouldn’t recommend using these Heko deflectors if you have laminated glass.
I’ve had mine in for about 6 months and last weekend noticed that the glass was damaged. The small metal clip had been chipping away at the glass causing the screen to delaminate.
Haven’t investigated the cost to replace yet but can’t imagine it will be cheap

My recollection from fitting mine and other online videos is this only happens if you put the clips in back to front, which is easy done as it’s not overly obvious which way round they go.

Theres been a few I've seen with that sort of damage.
I think it's a problem with the Acoustic pack windows, the laminated glass is a lot thicker than the toughened normal glass & doesn't leave sufficient room for the clips.

I would always just go for the external stick on type of deflector.

I wasn’t a fan of their look. Thankfully these been no issues for me. So far.

We have had Heko ones with standard windows for past 4 years, no issues.

(Personally don’t really see the point of fitting ‘acoustic’ windows on a van with no panel insulation combined + basic sound insulation..but like fitting double glazing to a garden shed!)

It does seem to make a difference, current van is the quietest we've had. Also helps with security.

Lost a Heko one on passenger side on M6 in a storm! Woosh it became airborne. Think the Heko look better but had VW stick on ones on 1st Van with no issues.

I had the VW deflectors with clips for 6 years. I lost one on the freeway 2 weeks ago. I don't know yet which brand I'm going to install, but not the same!

the VW ones do hot have clips they stick on so you must have had a non VW branded set.

Not true. There are 2 versions by VW.

Wind deflectors for front doors. Referentie nr: 7E0 072 193 HU3. € 97,01 incl VAT. Volkswagen.

Vw part number 7E0.072.193.HU3 is for genuine VW wind deflectors that are fitted in the window Chanel using clips. I only know that as they were what came with my 2nd van when I had specifically asked and paid for the stick on ones.wind deflectors.png

Interesting the VW official ones we had fitted on our T5 we stick on

I’ve got the Heko stick on ones. Work an absolute treat.

I've just noticed that I too have lost one of my Heko wind deflectors in the past day or so. I was assuming the window had frozen to the deflector and when I wound the window down it had pulled the deflector with it. I didn't think they could blow off if the windows were closed? They were easy to fit, looked good and did the job well over the past 3 years. So, another set ordered!

Get some additional clips : multicoloured auction site = quite cheap

I had VW stick ons and despite them appearing a bit bulkier than clip ons the benefit is that for the same window opening they allow more air to enter. If that’s what you’re fitting them for.
