This looks very very nice indeed. But just over 2m for some baffling reason, which defeats the whole point of this type of van (am I missing something here? If the van is going to be higher than 2m, you might as well get a high-top, might you not?)

Hmm…… looks a bit Mazda Bongo ish to me :D

Some nice looking features, but I must admit I was expecting it to have at least been a hybrid of some description

Yup, now that would have made it interesting :)

What I don't understand is why everything has to look so 'posh'. Silver, metallic, shiny, the fake black granite style counter, the leather look, etc. I mean, it's not like the Queen herself is going to buy a camper van. Sure we're not in a tent (anymore), it's a van, but most people go camping to be out in nature, right? Cooking (inside), sports, hiking, biking, dogs, etc. Things tend to get a bit dirty while camping. Sure everyone might use their van differently but we're still camping aren't we? I can see why they'd make the great white's more and more like mobile hotel rooms. 'Cause, well, they have room for people who'd want to stay inside all day. I know I'm exagerating just a bit ;-) , but I do wonder why teh trend seems to be that it needs to be luxurious. Golden fossets and what not.

and everything shiny ...

I hate most shiny surfaces that are supposed to have a practical purpose: I'm forever wiping fingermarks off them. It's like a 1970's cruise liner with formica everywhere, glitzy chandeliers and lots of things that probably don't work after a few weeks.

Nature? Hiking , biking, sport, all that oxygen is going to harm you!
the new camping style is sitting inside the glitzy van glued to your smartphone, covid mask on your chin, covered in bling.
instead of playing ping pong, you watch tik tok.
it‘s the cvav style ( conversion van aggressive and violent)

Has anyone spotted where the cooker is? The kitchen area has a large sink on the right hand side and a fridge in the middle. The section on the left couldn’t host a cooker because of the protruding storage compartments. The article doesn’t mention a cooker either.

No cooker would be an interesting choice - but then many California owners never cook in them.

Looks awfully narrow up top. Hope the tambor doors are better made than the Cali's were.

Huh, No upper bed? (at least nothing on the photo's) No electric or hydrogen version? (for which Hyundai is highly innovative)

Anyone seen a price on this?
what no cooker !

Hello,

The outside design is not really my taste, but it doesn't look bad from the inside. But everybody sees that differently and that is good so.

I think it is important there is more (and successful) competition to the California. Prices seems to me going up higher and higher and quality does not match the price tag (at least for many VW camper vehicles).

I think that with a strong competition VW will put a bit more effort into the design and quality of their vehicles. So each new camper in the California market segment is welcome.

Regards,
Eberhard

So no hob, over 2m high, tambour doors, no table/chairs

I'll keep the Cali thanks

What a damn cheek. A Korean car maker has the Gaul to make a campervan in direct competition with VW and Mercedes. I bet it’s probably reliable too. And all this for £42k. With a 5 year warranty. Will it come to the UK? Yes if there’s enough demand.

But...

if they continue to copy VW then it will be £42k plus hugely expensive options, such as wheels and en engine :shocked

Hi,
you would be correct, and i would also like to see more competition in the segment to force VW to make the Cali even better, but this Hyundai is in no way going to pose any threat to the Cali price tag.

I’d buy one if I hadn’t already bought a T6 Cali Ocean a couple of years ago.

Why?
Looks inferior in many ways
Explain why. Is it the price? Is it the 5 year standard warranty? Is it the reliability? Is it that it’s not Volkswagen???
It’s all been said before in the 60s when the Japanese started to make motorbikes. Total rubbish everyone said. Yeah right.....

In the photo of the interior, on the wall to the left of the fridge, there appears to be some serious looking cooking utensils; a ladle and spatula. Seems a bit odd to provide this if there is no cooker. Just a thought. Looks very plush though.

If no cooker I was under the impression that it could not be registered in the UK as a campervan ... or is that only for 'conversions'??

Edit: It must have a cooker - just well hidden. One of the shots shows a fire ext. - unless the fridge is prone to spontaneously combust ..

Bit of welcome competition could help 'manage' prices in the future.

Perhaps Hyundai are targeting the US market, which doesn't get the Cali ...
