Great site. Already used the forum to solve stove igniter issue which had worked itself loose. Since our Cali is relatively new, I’m expecting break-in issues. For example. The electric roof seems to sag a centimeters after camping for more than three days. This causes the upper light switches to not work. Solution? Just raise the roof again to its highest position and all good, lights work again. More to come.

ha. that roof sag is going to give you a right headache. i suggest you do some more reading in the search box. you need the pump replacing. it is not normal
my t6roof stays up and doesn't budge for days on end

It can help to put the roof up and down 5 times. It is an official VW procedure on the roof. If that doesn't help, the roof needs to drop down at least 15-20cm in 48hours before they replace the pump :(

Welcome on board Tom.
Is your username a reference to the van or to you? ;) :bananadance2

Jokes apart, if you only have the roof issue as of now, then you are off to a good start. Other things, you will figure out as you go. It takes time to make it your own and see what works for you.

Our van is perfect and set up right for us, but even after all these years, I am finding things that I can make better.

enjoy your adventures in the van.

Welcome to the club Tom

Exactly as you say, most vans seem to have a few niggles to sort out - I bought mine at 3 years old and he still had a few. It takes time to understand what bothers you and what doesn’t. I stay in mine whilst working away so he gets a lot of use and has stood up to it very impressively.

Enjoy your travels!
