New Cali discounts

Hi All

Been to the stealers this week to order a new Ocean , just wondering if anyone has managed any discounts recently ?
They advised they could offer a small discount but didn’t disclose as we’ve bought 2 previously from them.

Was going to wait for the new version T7 or buzz ,but it seems a long way off and probably won’t suit our needs.

Have you tried Drive The Deal or Carwow? Either site should give you a good indication of what discounts may be available currently. You can either order through them or use the outcome for negotiation with the dealer of your choice.

Should be looking for around 9% off list, need to negotiate and let the dealer know they need to get close to DTD prices, if they want your order.

9% off list is what I got earlier this month. This was the same as drive the deal and AutoEBid.

I had to ring around a few dealers as wanted to order through a dealer rather than a broker. Not all were willing to match.

I don’t think any dealers are guaranteeing the price at the moment.

All the ones I spoke to said you pay the deposit. And before it goes into build the current price will be confirmed.

At which point if the price is higher you can choose to cancel and get your deposit back

Yep, that's what's happening with T6s. There's a very long thread about it on the T6 forum. It's somehting to be aware of as the rises are significant, think one is scheduled for end of June.

With energy costs looking likely to rise significantly in Germany, I would not be surprised if the price of a Cali will increase considerably.
I wonder how many Kilowatts are used to manufacture a Cali and all its parts?

Personally I'm surprised Dealers are still offering Discounts. They have very little , if any, stock. The waiting list for new builds is heading towards 18mths and there are price rises to come.
If they do offer a discount to procure a sale the cynic in me says its just to rake in a deposit knowing full well they can up the price at any point up until delivery and if you cancel then they pay back the deposit knowing full well they can sell your vehicle at full cost or even with a premium for immediate delivery.

If you cancel VW cancel your factory order, dealers are not allowed to take over the order and resell.

I didn't get a discount. Sales exec laughed & said it would get sold regardless.

Definitely a cancelled order, I think.

That was in the past. May not be in the future. Also depends when the buyer cancels.

When I picked up my Ocean from Eurovans in November 21 they had two new green/white Ocean cancelled orders in the showroom. They expected to sell them that week presumably for list price. Perhaps it depends at what point the customer cancels - if the van is in production, can the dealer receive it?

My local dealership is offering to sell me a cancelled order. I would have taken it, but for the awful beige colour!

I took a beige one, it's not that bad and it was my perfect spec otherwise.

I'm going to live with this van for a very long time hopefully. I would have bought new if I didn't have to wait so long. But colour is quite important to me, so I'm going to travel to another dealership. The van they have is also top spec - might as well - if I'm going to spend that much money - have it the way I want.

We rented a red and white California Ocean last summer for a 3-week lap of the Outer Hebrides, and came home idly wondering if we might buy one (a VW, not a Hebride!).
So it was that on the Monday morning straight after our return we went to take a look at our local dealer, where they’d just received a ridiculously heavily specced bronze and cream demonstrator, but which they couldn’t sell for another 3 months, and anyway cost near to £85k, but the chap then half-apologetically mentioned that he also had a totally standard Ascot Grey vehicle which had been a cancelled order. I had been smitten with how smart, cheerful and fun our two-tone rental had looked, so set about trying to find a lower colour which would work with the grey, and look like it was always meant to be paired with it, rather than shout to you: “I’m just a poor approximation to a genuine factory two-tone paint job”!
So it was that we finally decided to have the bottom half wrapped in Avery Dennison’s ‘Aqua Blue’, which (we think) looks absolutely cracking.
I’m not saying that there’s necessarily a two-tone match for Mojave Beige, but I’d just urge anyone that if they can’t find exactly what they want, do be prepared to be a bit creative!
And a nice corollary of this is that a change of colour in a year or two is always a perfectly practical proposition!

I have an Ascot Grey and like the furtive, covert almost camouflage colour, but have wondered about a wrap too. The paint protection property and ability to change colour makes wrapping more practical than extraordinarily expensive factory two-tone to me.
I thought a secondary colour (purple, orange, green) might look good with the off-white, but retro Aqua Blue looks right at home…

Bravo! Each to their own but in my view Europe is a dull old place when it comes to car colours. 95% are shades of monochrome with fancy names.

I really appreciate all the advice here. You chose a fabulous colour combination.

I must admit - I've never really been aware that you could do all these after-market mods. The most extravagant thing I've ever had done to date is factory-fit, dark tinted windows on the rear half of my Golf (and that was because my brother helped me spec and buy it!)

I can see I have a lot to learn, but having just watched California Chris' video on colours - it seems like getting your van wrapped could be a great way to get the colour you want and protect the original factory paint. I may not love the beige, but I can see it being a fantastic combo paint option.
