T5 CALI FOR SALE - WHY HAVE INOT HAD ANY CALLS?

I'm not an expert in these things, but
- 32k is a lot of money for a nearly 20yr old vehicle. Not saying it's over-priced, but if someone is spending 32, then they could spend 10k more and get something much newer. That's probably what I'd do.
- Might be worth rewriting the ad withou all the text in block capitals - that can come across as shouting.

Good luck with the sale, though

Probably the shouting Bill ;-)

Seriously though it's over priced and the images don't help - anyone spending 30K on something wants detailed images of the item rather than your holiday pictures.

Quick look on Autotrader at Oceans (assume that is what it is as the ad does not say) shows I could get a 2007 Version for 3K less or a 2011 for 2K more.

Main thing wrong is the photos, people want close ups of the inside to see how worn it looks.
What they don't want is photo 3 with someones bare backside staring at them!

That & get rid of the block capitals - makes it hard to read properly.

10 DAYS AGO I POSTED THE FOLLOWING CALIFORNIA FOR SALE - THERE HAS BEEN OVER 200 VIEWS BUT NO ENQUIRIES. IS IT THE PRICE - THAT IT'S LEFT HAND DRIVE - OR THAT I'VE ONLY SHOWN LOCATION PICTURES - ANY SUGGESTIONS WELCOME AS WE DEFINITELY WANT TO SELL TO A GOOD HOME? MANY THNAKS BILL WITHNELL

I think it's probably all the things you said combined. For its age it seems very expensive, particularly when it's LHD which are much less popular, so sell for significantly less money in this country. And as others have said if you really were going to consider paying such a high price for an older LHD model, you would want many pictures to show how good it is.

I understand your frustration. Personally the text wouldn’t worry me, the provenance looks good, but I would want more detailed photos as others have said. The LHD could limit your potential buyer range as the vast majority still prefer RHD in the UK. Lastly the price does seem an awful lot of money for a near 20 yr old van. Good luck anyway.

I think you need to add lots of nice close-up photos showing all the features/extras and any signs of wear. The advert is really hard to read in all capitals, so rewrite that. Don’t show other vehicles in the photos. The first picture is confusing as it looks like there are two vans. Personally, I would keep the price the same to start with. Just make the advert changes and wait to see if there are any responses. It’s LHD so that you are really aiming at a specific market who would use Cali for dedicated European trips. LHD will put some people off.
Just my observations

Honest opinion - it’s the price. It’s low mileage, but that’s not necessarily a good thing in my eyes, as it suggests that the vehicle sits around for prolonged periods with infrequent use. Realistically, in my opinion, an 04 plate LHD with low mileage is worth in the region of £25K, assuming it has been regularly serviced. Like others have said, perhaps switch the caps lock off and share some further pictures to show its current condition. Best of luck with the sale.

Those photos!!!!!! The weirdest set of photos I have ever seen. I wouldn‘t buy a vehicle from you but I had a good laugh. Photo 3 - WTF!
Glad you said it. I'm more concerned about #5. I wouldn't buy a vehicle from a seller showing a photo of themselves or someone they know slouching on the bonnet/wing of an expensive car. It says I have little respect for my cars, even if the car and person are unconnected. Its all about perception.
I think the OP needs to reevaluate their approach. Check out ads for Calis that sold and get pointers as to the angles and subject matter, the content of the description etc. Most important of all, make the Cali the center of attention. GLWS

I have just had another look at the piccies this time on a bigger screen……. I can’t ’unsee’ the photo which includes someone having a wee or a poo on the beach!:D:D

Also I gotta be honest here, the photos (lack of detail or quality) suggest that you simply cannot be ars*d to take some good ones. It also looks a bit like a car dealers driveway :D

The photos look more like a social media post of your holidays……..

Sorry

This is quite interesting as I own a 2006 left hand drive 130hp manual imported through Deepcar as well. I'm the 2nd owner and it has done 130k miles. All original and in great condition but not mint.
I suspected it was worth around £21k (perhaps a little more) which is as cheap as Cali's come.
I saw the advert and lusted after the low miles and likely mint condition. But, the pre 2006 engines can develop some serious camshaft and exhaust manifold problems, and the autobox doesn't have the greatest reputation for reliability and is expensive to fix. So I'm not sure 174hp and auto adds value at this age, to people who are obviously working on a lower budget (fuel and maintenance).
If it is as good as it sounds, then it needs to find a vw enthusiast who will cherish it and take it to shows, like the guys with the T25 and T4 Westfalias do.
It is difficult to price. The text and unusual photos didn't put me off, except the one showing off your fleet. (I was looking at the van not the bare bum). I suspect any buyer for your particular van will already know about what's inside.
Any buyer would certainly want confirmation of the 'mint' condition before setting off for anything other than a local viewing.
I wonder if mine will eventually get bought by someone from the continent, where prices are higher.
My guess is your asking price needs to start with a 2, even if its 29995.

I didn't see the photos in the correct order. Photo #3... what a cheek
