Hi .
Another question from a newbie.
Does anyone know how to operate the remote fob ?
I press my heater button and nothing happens .

Thanks in advance

Press and hold? Sure someone will be along soon to clarify. I would like to know if you can purchase a 2nd remote fob so one could be kept with the other set of keys for the van.

I think there's a delay between pressing on and it starting

Press the button. A green light will flash. This indicates that the fob is communicating with the heater.

Similarly, the red light will flash when you press to deactivate.

Remember the heater will use the 'last heat setting' set on the control panel.

So if the control panel is set with a heat setting of 2, then the fob when pressed will activate the heater with a heat setting of 2.

Also the heater is ambient temperature controlled via the internal thermostat, so if the internal van temperature is above the control panel setting, then it will not switch on the heater until the internal van temperature drops.

My recommendation is that you set the control panel heater setting to the max 10, so that you can test that the heater works for you. Once you are confident it is working then you can adjust the control panel setting to what you want.

When first activated the heater does make a sound rather like a jet engine winding up, so be prepared! It will quieten once the heater unit has reached temperature.

On the 6.1 there is also a setting for ventilation so make sure the heater is set to heating.

Final bits of advice - when pressing the fob if you see a green LED then you’re in range. If a red LED flashes you’re not in range.
And ..
The fob activates the “Heat Immediately” function, as opposed to “Heat Continuously”. When on Heat Immediately there is a maximum run time of 120 minutes (after which you need to drive the van to reset). So after remotely starting the hearing, if you’re wanting it to stay on, use the control panel to switch to Heat Continuously.

You have a T6.1.
Be aware of the Following.
Using the Remote activates Heat Immediate. Parking Heater fires up and will run for a maximum 2 hrs. Then switch off. The Remote will not work again until the vehicle has been driven for a few miles.
Heat Continuous is activated from the Control Panel and will run the Parking Heater 24/7 or for any time interval.

Thanks for all your input , I’m not seeing any green or red lights when I press my buttons?

Does the heater work using the control panel ?
Try a new battery in the fob.
Yes works via control panel , the vehicle in only a few weeks old so hopefully won’t be a battery issue.

Is it possible to purchase a 2nd remote fob as a spare?

I do not think this is possible. I'm sure this question has been asked before or someone tried to get a replacement because the fob was lost.

Not sure it’s been mention but I found this out while messing the other day. It is right that when you turn the heater on using the fob, it operates the Heat Immediately function. However, you can also use it to switch off the Heat Continuously function that you’ve switched on via the control panel. Handy when you want to leave the heater on until you get warm in bed then switch it off.

What happens if you switch it off via the fob while having the heater on Heat Immediately? Can your then switch the heater back on without driving (since you didn't use the 2 hour limit)? :)

It is my understanding that the two hour limit only relates to the Heat Immediately option. The Heat Continuously option doesn’t have a time limit. This is supported by the user manual. However, what I haven’t tried is whether, if the two hour limit is hit on Heat Immediately option, it turns off the whole heating function and you need to move the van even to use Heat Continuously. You would hope not but I can’t rule it out.

As a direct answer to this question, I believe you would be able to switch the heater back on, in either mode, without moving the van as the two hour limit hasn’t been reached.
