Evening all. Hope you can help some times I have to double click the fob to open the sliding door .T6 Beach

Have you set the vehicle for first click to open drivers door only?

I have mine set so only drivers door opens on first click, double click for passenger and sliding door, safer when you are on your own and good to make your passengers wait to embark.

You say ‘sometimes’. So sometimes one click opens all doors? It that’s the case, and the passenger door unlocks always on one click, I would suspect the copper contacts on the sliding door aren’t making properly with those on the door pillar. A gentle clean using something like (edit) electrical contact cleaner and a soft cloth or toothbrush could help

If the passenger door is not opening, I’d check the unlocking settings option in the infotainment system menu (to change to unlock all doors).

Our T6 Beach is single click driver’s door; double click all doors; boot click, tailgate only, auto relock.

If I’ve locked with a double click (alarm disabled and no deadlock) a single click unlocks all doors.

Thanks useful info

Yes your right with the sometimes. Will give this a go thanks

Here’s an old thread where folk have had the same symptom. Some saying it’s a cold weather thing. If you’re still in warranty I’d get VW to take a look. Otherwise, more investigation is needed per thread…

Is this feature an extra? If not, how/where is it set? I have tried on ours and double click does nothing. Only a long click folds the mirrors and closes the windows.

You can change the door opening sequence from the infotainment menu. If you regularly travel solo it can useful to have one click for the drivers door, two clicks for all doors. We have ours set as one click for all doors as we generally travel as a couple.

I did check in the Infotainment menu, and also the dashboard menu. Couldn't see anything related to this. Mine is an Ocean from 2019. That's why I was asking if it is an extra, or perhaps specific to T6.1?

Ok so we have a 6.1, but this is a menu option on our 6 year old Golf, and on our daughters 5 year old Polo - so I’d be surprised if it’s not a option, and maybe take a look at the manual for your van?

Last week the weather was poor around here and I read all the manuals, including the Infotainment one! :)
Could the menu be hidden behind a combination of buttons? Since I posted earlier, I've seen a couple of videos pressing a combination of buttons. Have tried on mine, and nothing comes up.

pd. In my modest opinion, the manuals are pretty boring and lack important information. For example, I could not see how often you are meant to change the cambelt. Plus, more than 50% of their size is the result of text telling you to go to your local VW centre, or explaining things like how to change gear.

I have just phoned one of the local VW centres and they say that the ability to open the driver's door with only one click ended with the T5. The T6s don't have that feature. However you say you have the option in your T6.1, right?

I’ve looked at a T6 manual online, and the ‘open drivers door only’ function is not mentioned, so perhaps you can’t. I know that on my van you can also set this function using a Carista dongle, but I don’t know if this would work on a T6.

It would be useful for another T6 owner to comment. Maybe to help, you could identify the model manufacturing year? And I’m guessing you have a Left hand drive?

Yes, left hand drive. Don't know where to check the manufacturing year, but it first went on the road in September 2019.
What I don't understand is why, if you have this option in your T6.1, they guy from VW said that this option died with the T5s.

It will probably be MY20 then, as the model tends to change in the August.

I really don’t know. It could be different for LHD and RHD ?? but grabbing at straws there! Maybe he was being a little economical with his summary. Our van, as delivered, had the drivers door opening on one click, and all doors on two clicks. I’ve changed it since as it was annoying us.

So, anyone out there with a MY20 T6, and can you assist @fili villanueva ??

In case it helps others like me, who cannot program the key, we have worked out a way to achieve what we wanted. The objective is that, when only one of us is driving the van, you may want to have all doors locked apart from the driver's.
The solution requires two gestures. I open the van, get in, lock all doors using the internal locking button on the window (next to the one to regulate the back mirrors), and then pull the door lever once, so the lock on my door is released.
