Just had the second year service done which included things like diff oils but was told that they cannot change the oil under the service plan until it hits an additional 360 days or 4,000 km as VW do not allow the dealer to change oil at service unless within 2,000 km of recommended mileage. Bonkers but that’s VW service plans.

Also included a major software update which I gather is something to do with monitoring injectors to prevent failure and damage described as holes in the piston (my translation not great but seems VW are quietly serious about getting the update done without alarming the car owning public!

Interesting feedback, thanks.

Which engine is the software monitoring injectors?
Is it just the 204 or both…?

Told it’s all engines (I have the 150) but I have nothing to substantiate this, only poor translations from the dealer and Polish forums.

My van went in for a warranty roof sag repair on Tuesday and they mentioned an "engine recall" that they also needed to do at the same time. I jokingly said an engine recall would be a big job and the lady explained it was an ECU replacement to update the software. I asked if there were anymore updates they needed to do and she said "yes probably, but this says replacement so I guess it's actually changing the unit".

Could be the same thing. I was asked if I had installed a tune as it would be wiped so my assumption was an ecu reflash.

Aye said a similar thing to me last week, the dsg did feel different after. Had a cam belt change, no mention of an update if it had one.
