Hi. Any suggestions, please, where I can source a replacement DSG Gearbox code LZZ?
The DSG gearbox in my 45,500 mile April 2010 T5.1 California SE has broken beyond repair. (Bits of broken gears etc inside -goodness knows how??- according to the aftermarket automatic transmission garage who have been given the task of fixing it). The garage are having difficulties finding a reconditioned one (un-surprisingly). Having already replaced the Cali with a new one, I was hoping to avoid having to buy a new box from VW. Thanks

Sorry to hear that. A rare occurrence hence the difficulty in finding a reconditioned DSG box.
There are only 2 options I can see, a new box from VW, expensive but you get a warranty, or a 2nd hand box from a written off Transporter but no guarantee.
Remember, it doesn’t have to be from a California, just a Transporter.
A third option, but may not be cheaper, fitting a manual gearbox, but more involved.

I have never heard of them let alone dealt with them, but they appear to be transmission specialists that have been around for a while, on ebay- £1695 for a refurb box with a warranty, extra £300 for fitting.

Thanks very much. I realise these things will be in short supply. I need to get the Cali running properly again so I can sell it on. Obviously better if in form of 'original equipment'.

Thanks very much. I am trying to help the garage with the repair in hand in searching for a replacement gearbox and so will pass this info on. Cheers

Any good?

Try Mackie’s Transmissions near Glasgow. They are ZF specialists and also do the DSG boxes. I have had a tour of the facility and it is really impressive.

Thanks very much for that lead. I have been in touch with that Company as I also found a Transporter they were scrapping. Unfortunately they didn't have anything in stock at present having sold the item last week.
They did however suggest that the DSG box does not have to be code LZZ as any Transporter DSG box frpom 2010 -2019 will fit so long as it has the dp500 software. Obviously I am not sure if this is correct but it is what I have been told.
Thanks again.
