Does anyone have any views on which European countries have the cheapest / most expensive diesel? Or, as it’s all Europe, should every country be the same. (I’ll be touring soon and it would be a shame to fill up in the wrong place.)

Diesel prices in euro across europe

See link above. Prices vary per fuelling station obviously. Try to avoid filling up along motor ways, in France it's best to go to the large hypermarkets. In Germany fuelling stations at an "Autohof" close to the motorway are generally 10-20cts cheaper then along the motor way.

Excellent. Indeed a league table! Mostly understandable, though I’m guessing some of the countries. I can translate as I go.

Don't forget to use the actual exchange rate that's given when you convert £'s not the headline figure.
£ currently dropping against the Euro.

Just been through Andorra and Diesel is €1.45 in Pas de la casa.
In Spain the cheapest we have had is €1.59. You can find cheaper but you then sometimes have to go miles out of your way.
You can’t compare countries that massively subsidise to keep the population sweet and on their side.

Repsol are quite expensive compared to other outlets. They have to fund Marc Marquez.

Luxembourg has some of the cheapest diesel in the EU. And yes, Autohof's and the places to search out in Germany. I stopped at one to fill up on the way back from France. Cheapest I could find there was high 1.80's euro at the hypermarket. The Autohof was 1.68 euro/L (which is 13c less than my cheapest local station). The only downside was they didn't accept MC or Visa, but I was prepared for that. Access to the public pump was awkward as to was located inside a garage building, but at least the hose was long.

There are apps for at least some EU countries with prices on the map which helps you track it.
Some countries like Norway have a common practice of price jumps up to 30% during a single day.

Over here in NL it's not good. In Belgium it's usually much cheaper and in Germany also.

Also beware some pay at pump stations convert £1 to €1 which makes there fuel very expensive - been cought with this a couple of times in Ireland and Belguim.
