If they were similar money what would you do go for a late T5 or early T6 - apart from dash what's the difference really?

T6 has ad blue for low emission zones, it drives nicer than the t5.1 and may have CarPlay and cd player.
The t6 has a nicer more modern front end

I believe some early T6s were euro 5 not 6. Suggest you check before making a purchase.
Not Californias, only Commercial vans. There was a difference in the date of implementation of Euro6 standards between passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles. So an early T6 conversion could be Euro5 but not so with the California, Caravelle or Shuttle.

Being extremely pedantic, the T6 california beach with 102PS & 5 speed manual was available as a T6 and was only Euro5 all other variants were Euro6. - thats according to the first T6 price list.

Available in the UK?

I cant find the brochure I read it in earlier, I thought it was the end of the 102 engine for the cali at that point so they didn't bother in upgrading it.

According to my 2014 brochure the Beach came with a 114 and 140 HP engine only in the U.K.

That right for a T5.1, T6 was the 102hp & 150 hp engines.

Ok, thanks for this info but I wouldn't ever be venturing into London in Cali, we'd use our 2019 Golf GT which meets requirements so I'm not too concerned on that side.

Looking around it seems nigh on 100% of late T5.1's have parking sensors with quite a few front as well as rear but quite a few early T6's dont!

When it comes to air con it seems only early T5.1's have full climate controls with most late seem to be manual air con however looking at picture online it appears all T6's do have full climate, am I right on this.

My reasons are I'm used to parking sensors and cameras so would not want to pay out for retro fitting of these; would prefer already installed. All car we've had including current Golf have full climate control which I like being able to set a temp and leave it to sort itself out; it's also better on fuel usage as not having compressor running 100% of the time so I'd like this as well.

Thanks in anticipation

my early T6 Beach has manual aircon in the front rather than climate control - not something I've missed in the least.

I've not followed specs since, but aircon in the back was also optional at the time.

Thanks for that though I'm looking at either late SE or early Ocean; sadly a Beach doesn't work for us; we need fridge, cooker, water etc :)

Our 2016 T6 Ocean has full climate. This was standard for the Ocean in July 2016 brochure.

Parking sensors was a £426 option on the Ocean. £624 bought you the rear camera as well (which ours has).

Some of the options on the T6 are now standard on the 6.1. Ours Ocean was ordered in August 2016 and delivered March 2017. Privacy glass, adaptive cruise control, awning, front and rear parking sensors with rear camera were all options on the T6. Climatronic 3-zone air con and auxiliary heater was standard on the Ocean and an option on the Beach (at a cost of £726)

It’s not just London though. Low emission zones are appearing in other UK cities and abroad, and there is talk of an emission related charge to use the M4 in south Wales. Where I live, the parking permits are priced according to your vehicle’s emissions.
