Experience a smarter drive with Volkswagen! The latest integration of ChatGPT into its vehicles ensures a more enhanced and interactive journey. Hop in and get more details in our newest article! https://ie.social/eqaG1

Gimmick obviously, but could actually be useful if done properly.

Can't be any worse than the existing voice control, which I've used.... once.

Hope its more intelligent than the current VW Group satnav systems, which are infuriating to use.

If it monitors every function in the van, books it into the dealership on your behalf for a fault / service, knows when you are close to home, speaks to Nest - turns your home heating on, speaks to Phillips Hue - turns your hallway light on ready for your arrival...then could be great.

But...I doubt it
Better have the slippers ready and the dog fed or I'm not interested.

Hhmmm... You don't intergrate 'ChatGPT' into software, you intergrate the technology behind ChatGPT into other software. The usefulness and functionality can only be as good as the effort and skill VW put overall into the software.

So I'd expect it to be fairly useless, lagging well behind what Google is doing with Auto for the same functionality, lacking regular updates and glitchy af, and unreasonably expensive for the 1 or 2 almost useful bits of functionality they manage to pull off.

Sorry, We Connect and the onboard infotainment system interface is about the most disappointing software I've encountered. Which is a shame, because particularly with the California there are so many cool things they could do with it!

I'd say best case, they'll integrate something like they have done on the Alexa which allows you to talk to different agents in order to get different information about specialist topics. From a liability perspective though I can't imagine that VW will allow this to be linked to any of the California systems, I'll give any useful advice about the California.

Apple’s latest CarPlay is so good. It’s learned where work is without me plugging it in, it integrates with the BMW system, so proposes fuel stops when the tank is low.

BMW voice activation is the best I’ve used and Apple CP is so much better in its latest guise. I can dictate texts, WhatsApp, calendar reminders, notes etc.

Makes me feel much less guilt about being work shy. Driving for coffee is now work time.

The manufacturers should just give up on their R&D for native systems. Apple/Google/Amazin have won.

What would all of you like to see a magic assistant do?!

Starting simple for me -

Smart lighting! Why are we still using the control panel or pressing the light button for a whole minute up to 100% brightness and back down again. And the button and control panel aren't even linked! Basic.

Smart route planning and an east way to find parking with 2m plus clearance near the destination.

Integration between Spotify and the in car music system when parked.

Forewarning when the heating will stop due to low elec/fuel... Parked heating that's generally not glitchy and unpredictable.

Keyless lock/unlock as a standard for the California. Not rigged up to any AI control though.
