Wonder how long the ICE California range will remain on sale bearing in mind the EV version is due for release in 2025.

VW will milk sales for as long as they can, probably running ICE versions alongside electric till the bitter end!

Was the same here when we ordered. I wanted a mechanical roof but the Coast never made it to the Spanish market. Instead, you get a lower entry price on the Ocean, but with less stuff as standard (eg you get LED lights but no ACC or alloys)

Did you consider buying outside Spain to get the spec you wanted? Or just made compromises? Sounds like we are finally getting our Cali's around the same time. Mine will be at the dealer week after next.

I was considering going with campers.eu from Holland but in the end it was more a case of developing a bit of faith in the hydraulic roof! Didn’t want alloys anyway, the only boxes I ticked were paint, ACC and rear camera.

Hopefully seeing the van in a few days! This last part of the wait (14 months!) has been by far the worst! How about you?

I wanted a LHD California and that sort of limited options. I tried contracting a couple VW main dealers in Germany and Austria and got zero interest. Communication was sorely lacking perhaps because I don't speak German. I reached out to Campers.eu in October 2020 and after a Skype call and much email back and forth, decided they were my best choice. The Coast was available as was the 204 and 4Mo. I checked both those boxes and Edition spec gave me most options I wanted or needed. Added a few creature comforts like wood effect floor, panoramic bellows, standard cruise control, stiffer ARB's, rear camera, heater, parking sensors, soft close assist, AS tyres and removable towbar. The manual roof was a huge plus going for the Coast and the price of 56K Euros + tax no less appealing....

That’s my only potential regret - the roof. But as my OH is 5ft then perhaps it’ll be useful! Also I hadn’t realised side assist isn’t standard on the Spain Ocean and would’ve liked to have that.

I’m still mentally prepared for it to turn up damaged/wrong colour/different model - won’t be relaxed until it’s all signed off. I’ll admit to passing the dealer on the way home from work trying to spot it every night!
