Hi all.
Mrs G and I are on our first weekend away without EHU, unfortunately the fridge has decided to switch off and won’t switch back on via the control panel and the parking heater won’t switch on either. It worked for about the first 4 hours.

We fully charged the van via the mains before we left home and had the fridge switched on en route.

The control panel is showing as below.

Any help would really be appreciated- it might be a cold week in Northumberland otherwise.

Thanks all

Have you got plenty of diesel in the tank? That could explain the heater not working.

What happens when you try and put the fridge on? I'm assuming it doesn't come up with any errors, it just won't switch on. I've vague memories of resetting the control panel on the 6.1, but don't know...

But give a quick search on 6.1 panel reset too :thumb

Thanks for the reply. Yes full tank of diesel. The control panel lets me switch the fridge on but takes the ‘tick’ off straight away.

Do you get a large voltage drop with increasing load? Try use the lights as a load.

Do you have any sort of obd device with you?

Hi. Have taken her for a drive as when ignition is on it said to 12v low and drive to recharge.
No voltage drop when putting headlights on.
Don’t have an obd deceive either.
Thanks.

I'm guessing this is the starter battery low. This may be your culprit. I'm not sure how things behave with a low starter battery.

Try with the interior lights -- the kitchen ones.

How about a multimeter?

Thanks all - don’t have a multi meter. Have re- sat the fuses. Reset the control panel.
Took the van for a spin and all seems to be ok now.
Hopefully just the starter battery being low and the drive should have helped that.

Fingers crossed - thanks for all the helpful replies.

Why was the Engine battery Low?
The Full electric sliding door and the built in Entertainment system can drain the engine battery if used extensively when camping off EHU.

I used the entertainment system to play some music off my phone for about 40 mins - suspect that must have been the problem. I’ve not had any more issues today and so far all working fine whilst not on EHU. I haven’t used the entertainment system today though.

Did you put in the key to get it going?

That'll do it. To get it going in the least power hungry way just press the on (volume) button (discover media). The pro has something similar I think.

You still need to be judicious.

Your DRLs were probably on as well, plus the hp fuel pump and other odds and sods.
That’s really useful to know - I never gave it a moments thought.

Lesson learned. Thanks all for the very helpful replies.

On my T6 I found when off grid (and no solar charging) that even 2 or 3 20 mins sessions (default cut off period) with the Media centre only on (via the dash button) can drain the starter battery enough to cause very slow cranking, particularly in cold weather and worry you that it may not start.

No EHU and No solar = No media centre use is best option IMHO
